Damn, sorry to hear that rvnmaniac. The frame slider doesnt help much on gravel. Glad you are ok.

Henry,

Sorry to hear about this. Important part is that you are OK. What about insurance? All that plastic can get pricey.

BTW - The russel looks good. I bet the wifey is loving that!

Bob

My friend Jamie next door low-sided his bike. We obtained very good prices for all the plastic parts and stator case from www.boulevardsuzuki.com parts fiche Upper Cowling, Lower Cowling. Then got the prices matched at Capital Yamaha here in Sacramento. Donny at Capital took care of everything and parts were all in within 1-1/2 weeks. Surprisingly in this case, the upper cowling, stator case, gasket, mirror, all came to under $400. We still need to send the saddlebag cover to Gerauld.

Looking at your bike, I'd say you're looking at under $700 for the fairing repairs with brand new parts. In addition to the parts below you may need a shifter lever, foot peg and other odds and ends, but really if you look at the discounted price you're not too badly off.

UPPER COWLING ASSY 1 VDRM2 3P6-W283G-00-P5 $120.74

REAR VIEW MIRROR *** (LEFT) VDRM2 3P6-26280-00-P5 $79.34

BODY, FRONT LOWER 1 VDRM2 AW U49 3P6-Y283J-30-P5 $386.50

Stator COVER, CRANKCASE 1 3P6-15411-00-00 $83.55

GASKET, CRANKCASE CO 5JW-15451-11-00 $9.21

Total above $679

Estimated cost of parts you have listed are much cheaper than the Insurance estimate Pete's Cycle is listing in parenthesis. I'm sure they only use the Factory OEM listed prices.:

UPPER COWLING ASSY 1 VDRM2 3P6-W283G-00-P5 $120.74 (196.99)

REAR VIEW MIRROR *** (LEFT) VDRM2 3P6-26280-00-P5 $79.34 (129.99)

BODY, FRONT LOWER 1 VDRM2 AW U49 3P6-Y283J-30-P5 $386.50 (523.99

Stator COVER, CRANKCASE 1 3P6-15411-00-00 $83.55 (135.99)

If you can assemble the new parts, you are obviously much better off buying on discount and doing the work yourself. These parts come fully finished and are really easy to install, but you do have to transfer most of the bolts and thread clips. I have a good relationship with the local Yamaha shop. They will meet or beat any internet price, so I usually just submit the Fiche quotes like I did above, and buy directly from my dealer Capital Yamaha. You might want to talk with the parts guy and see if he wants the business or if he will send you off to order from someone else...The parts quotes I gave you are from the internet site for BoulevardSuzuki, but they are actually a dealer Deland Suzuki in Florida. Very good to work with.

The prices you were quoted were full-MSRP. If insurance will be writing the check, this is common practice. I would insist on a price match, and since this is really just a couple hundred dollars higher than most deductibles, I would consider not making a claim. You will pay for this with higher rates if you do.

I agree if those were the only parts needed, but the Insurance Est shows a total of 44 parts to be replaced with the parts totaling over 7 Grand. This does not include Labor. Of course i could probably cut that list in half since some items in my eyes do not need to be replaced, i.e muffler $696.99 with minor scratches can be buffed out or just replaced with slip ons i already have. The way they look at it if there is any scratch they replace not repair or re-finish....

Well, you started this thread with a request for fairing parts. What are your intentions? If you're going to turn it over to a claim, then it's kind of futile for members to be scrounging for used parts or better deals so you can max the differential between a claim and a DIY repair. $7K is pretty outrageous for a cosmetic accident, but I guess I can see how it might happen. Care to post the rest of the list?

WOW why would i waste folks time? I need parts. The bike may be totaled by the State Farm but i will still keep it and fix it. No where did you see me post i was turning my bike in, got too much money invested into for that...

That's why I asked. I know what it sounded like...sorry. I think you can put the bike on the road for about 1K, but it would help to know what parts are damaged aside from what is visible in the front-quarter picture you provided.

Right now the bike is at the dealership. They will be forwarding the estimate and also my list of my personal add-ons as an addition. Then State Farm's appraiser will come down and take a look at it. So it will be a couple of weeks before i get it back in my hands. The accident happened two Fridays ago in Boone NC. The bike was ride-able that day and the rest of the weekend. It rode like nothing ever happened just looked right ugly.

It will definitely be worth fixing, but the title will be marked salvage. Glad you were able to finish the trip and weren't hurt. I'm still curious what the dealership is finding damaged. You don't usually get to those numbers unless were talking subframe components. Is the support for the mirrors/console/windshield drive affected? What do you think needs done to make it a bike you'll enjoy?

The salvage part is up in the air. I hit a deer on Skyline Drive in Va, this was back in 2005. My 89 FJ1200 was Totaled but i kept the bike and never received a Salvage Title, maybe i fell through the crack, who knows, but i still own that bike. It was repaired and upgraded/modified with the left over funds. I'm pretty sure all the front fairing areas need to be replaced. Right now the entire console is cocked slightly to the left so obviously the fairing stay needs replacing and anything around it. I'm not the expert and wont know more until i start tearing the bike down but pretty sure 80% of the plastics up front will need to be addressed. If i didn't say it originally i'll say it again anything that had a slight scratch to it they listed it as needing to be replaced. An example there is a bracket on the right side behind the passenger pegs it was slightly rubbing on the swing arm. So the swing arm was on the list of replacement parts. Straighten or replace that piece and clean the swing arm and we are good... Main point is that this bike will be back on the road. It has only 23K miles on her 2007 FJRA...

I'm still currently out of town but State Farm considers the bike a total lost. Should have the bike back home Tuesday and will start a parts list then but i am definitely buying the bike back, that's my "Baby"..

Anyone have an FJR considered a total loss know the salvage value of their bike. Not sure if different states have different values. Of course mine is a 2007 with under 24K miles.

The total value of my bike including State Tax and tags is #10,604. With the $2500 salvage fee i would receive $8104 to keep the bike which of course i am doing.....

Yeah, maybe but...I think Tom has a good point there in asking. People sometimes change their mind.

Bike is gone ..... Purchased another 2007 FJR
Yep. Sometimes that happens.

Have fun on your new FJR.
