I tried the compressed air and I either did it wrong or had too much volume of air as it started to balloon the stock rubber gips out a bit. Went and got the dish soap and wouldn't you know it they went on fairly smooth but with the twisting motion it moved the stock grips in a bit and throttle return wasn't so good so I corrected that too. Anybody a hockey fan? Go Habs Go! You have to give us canucks a break, we only have 2 Canadian teams left to choose from. Thanks for all the replies.

I have to order some new ones soon, but am very interested in the BMW grips mentioned in this thread. Anybody have a link or part #

I also used the compressed air technique for the grip puppies. I never, ever thought putting soap on handlebar grips was a good idea.
Though I used soap for the puppies, I used air to remove the original Yamaha grips prior to adding the BMW grips. It does work well for removal and I can see the reverse would be true. The BMW's were installed without glue, just a liberal amount of rubbing alcohol. They slipped right on and after a couple of days they were tight as dick's hatband. I got a machinist friend to cut down the bar ends a bit so most of the short grip gap associated with the BMW grips is gone.

I use hair spray and it works great. Spray the inside of your "puppie" and slip it on. You do need to wait until all the solvents have evaporated before riding.
