Ground spider blew the windshield motor

The only thing I added is a PC 3-Smoothness map with oxy disconnected and I told them to bypass that and replug the o2 sensor. They still have the bike. Now that I think of it, could swear I smelled raw gas. I bet they crimped the fuel line or broke it. I am now thinking I made a mistake taking it right back to them.

When they fried the windshield motor who knows what other sensors and devices got spiked. A short massive enough to cook the windshield motor could have easily damaged the battery or effected something kind of important like the ECU. I'm afraid this is not going to end well since they test rode it, knew there was a problem and shoved it out the door anyways.

Just looked on ebay and there must be 30 ecu's listed. On NOS for 79.00 shipped. Says it fits 06 and up. Anyone know if there is a difference between an AE ECU and The regular one?

Got it back today. The only way it'll run is with oxy sensor disconnected.
Another 2nd gen owner (Ross Kean) had a similar problem. Turned out his O2 sensor cable got pinched somewhere under the covers? (not sure where) which caused his bike to run like old doody. Check that wire run (from the sensor up along the right side to the connector on top of the throttle bodies) to be sure nuthin like that has happened. If so, it would be a quick and very cheap fix.

My Guess is that it's probably just the S6 or S7 Spider that's fubar, and maybe/hopefully the motor is fine.

The recall harness doesn't replace the sub harness under the nose (as far as I know).

You should be able to 'repair it' if it's just the spider.

If it were me, I'd try that before arguing with Yamaha, but that's just me. However, if it is in fact the motor, and not the harness. I would argue to get them to fix it. In the mean time I'd find a pull from a wreck, and fix the damn thing while the arguing commences.

Good luck.

FWIW, if it's the spider I'm thinking of, your turn front turn signals will be jacked, and potentially your headlights too. Though they were intermittent for me.

Thank you Fred- That is exactly what happened. They must have had it apart and together so many times the wires were shorted and rubbed through right where the O2 plugs into the harness under the right rear of the tank. This forum really works when there's guys like you around. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
