I am hoping to get some of the GS riders out there to help me figure out what are the essential offroad farkles that I need so I don't incapacitate my bike after the first drop in the dirt. I am working to get Helga my newly acquired GS1200 ready to travel the dirt roads of the west.

Beer bottle opener mounted on back of your left Vario sidebag for use in Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua; no twist off bottles South of Estados Unidos!

Grow a set of Huevos between now and October '13: You can ride to Mulege with Old Michael and Papa Chuy ese! A manly man ride, Patch308 will go!

Wow! Tough crowd isn't it?

You've already got the good seat. Did I see hard bags? Don't make the mistake I did of getting the plastic ones. Engine guards. Extra lights. GPS. I got some after market foot pegs that are much less slippery when muddy than the stock ones (learned the hard way about that). Portable air pump so you can drop tire pressure for off road then re inflate.

Where do you plan to go riding? We are hoping to get out to the desert as soon as I can walk. I won't be riding for a long time though.

Here you go johnny80s, just watch this 4.5 minute video and you will be good to go! Plus, butt feck Simon and also double feck the Brit bloke that's never ridden offroad!

https://www.rawhyde-offroad.com/ Juan, AZ Beemer GS Riders highly recommend 3-day adventure riding class of Jim Hyde. $325 gives you great off road techniques!

johnny80s, Jim's Off Road Academy is located on a ranch up in Gorman, CA. His course is fully certified by BMW Motorrad, BMW factory DS racers also practice up here.

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=146751&st=0 Plan on coming to FODS in Moab, UT over March 21-24; Bungie, huron52, Patch308, 'Zilla and Chuy will ride offroad with you!
