Wow! Tough crowd isn't it?

You've already got the good seat. Did I see hard bags? Don't make the mistake I did of getting the plastic ones. Engine guards. Extra lights. GPS. I got some after market foot pegs that are much less slippery when muddy than the stock ones (learned the hard way about that). Portable air pump so you can drop tire pressure for off road then re inflate.

Where do you plan to go riding? We are hoping to get out to the desert as soon as I can walk. I won't be riding for a long time though.
Thanks Jill. I do have the plastic hard bags. They came with it. I have aftermarket foot pegs. After my ride yesterday I need some bar risers. The bars are a little low when I stand on the pegs. I took off the bags when I went to the dirt. I heard the break pretty easily. It has the stock bmw crash bar on it and touratech lights.

Don - Those were great videos. Thanks

Simon and Richard - go **** yourselves :) Thats big talk from you Richard whose scared to ride his wing with the FJRs to Big Bear. Love you , mean it! I would insult Simon but he is just an insult standing there doing nothing. No point.

Unless you're a super confident and skilled rider, be wary of going off road with the plastic side bags. Mine have always been left in the hotel / tent / home when we've gone off road because I was afraid of breaking them. Andy has the aluminum ones which are what I want for my next bike. Also, if you remember from our camp out, the aluminum bags double as camp chairs and coolers.

For starters, watch "The Long Way Down" then watch "The Long Way Around."

Don't forget your BMW-branded whale foreskin riding gear. Otherwise you'll look REALLY under-dressed at Starbucks.

Lol! Now I understand why Motorad gear is priced the way it is.

Those two movies are awesome. Very entertaining apart from the stupid publicity stunt of the rookie rider wife coming along. If nothing else, they will give you an idea of what the bike can do when you have a support crew and $$ budget. It's a bit different when you've ridden your own bike to the dirt and plan to ride it home afterwards. And of course, having to pay for your own maintenance is a consideration too. Nice thing though, there isn't much Tupperware. My little GS saw the dirt sideways several times and didn't seem to mind. I had a few scuffs but no damage to speak of. Definitely recommend watching Ewan and Charlie.

johnny80s I really like this style - reminiscent of the original BMW R80 G/S's!

It's a conversion kit for R1200GS from Nippy Normans.

Long Way Round was cool but the Down was just bad. Charlie's Race to Dakar was pretty good except every other word is ****. Hard to watch with the kids.
