Huh.... I didn't necessarily see this coming..... while he hasn't won the championship, Haga has been generally kicking some *** on the Yamaha R1.

Not next year, though.... he's apparently off to the factory Ducati team: Haga going to Ducati Xerox

Yeah, he's taking over Bayliss' ride. Corser is gone from Yammie too, off to BMW. The Yamaha Italia seats will be filled by Ben Spies and another youngster from the Brit Superbike Series. A pretty amazing change in experience for that team. It should be interesting.

While we're on silly season rumors, the last I was paying attention, Biaggi was going to ride in WSBK for Aprilia. Anyone know if that's still on?

I saw that also and was about to post it. Yeah, Haga has won 3 out of the last 4 races, and was 2nd in the one he didn't win. He's now 2nd in points passing Corser. Somehow I missed the fact that Troy Bayliss is retiring after this year. That's whose ride Naga is getting. I wonder who'll be riding his Yami? I was looking forward to seeing Spies race Bayliss... but that ain't happening now.

old news. Haga was announced to take Bayliss spot a while back and His majesty Troy is retiring. Not sure if it is a good move for Haga. he is really good on Yama. Would be interesting to see what happens next year to the yama team. Did I mention I do not like Ben.

So far Biagi is still on for Aprilia.

I think it is a good move for Haga. For one thing, I think the Ducati has an advantage in the rules. Not to take away from Bayliss' performance, he's totally rocked this championship, but I think it's a better bike by the rules. Also, Ducati's management has had a fair history of calming riders that need calmed, Xaus notwithstanding.

Corser and Biaggi are indeed (doomed) on the Aprilia.

I think Yamaha has a good chance at the title next year, though. Not only will they have the 90º crankshaft in the R1, but they'll have Ben Spies on it.

I'm expecting Haga will be very hard to beat next year. He's riding extremely well and they're just starting the real development cycle on the 1200cc Duc. Good move for him... he gave it everything with Yamaha, but couldn't get it to the championship so time to move on - he's not getting any younger.

In his first year, Spies will surely find it tough going and some of his shenanigans at the end of the last couple years in AMA make me wonder if he's got the right temperament to challenge at this level. He's going to find it a lot different when there are fifteen guys on the grid who can contend any given race, not two.

I see Ducati and Honda dominating the podium with an occasional Suzuki thrown in.

Here's hoping Haga can finally do the hat trick. He's deserving. I consider him one of the best racers never to win a world championship. Aaron Slight's another that comes to mind. Go Nori!
