My wife being busy on Saturday and Sunday gave me a great excuse to join up with a couple of other local riders for a blast over to Hyogo. Beautiful scenery, twisty roads, and my still-new (to me) FJR made for a great overnight trip. The only bummer was the torrential rain on the highway heading home, but that's forgivable. I had my camera with me, so I got a couple decent shots...nothing spectacular though. I prefer coastal to mountain routes for great photos! It only occurred to me about halfway through the trip that it was Halloween. I shoulda strapped a pumpkin to my back seat or something.

Here's my Halloween costume:

A few fall colors poking through, but it's still early over here!:

Pretty lake around which there were some excellent twisties. Great combo.:

We rented a very well appointed cabin that was close to grocery stores and gas stations. Lovely.:

Box wine time?! Yeah, we all try to rationalize these as "motorcycle trips", but everybody knows we just do it for the alcohol.

Nice Matt!

I just got home. You clearly got the better half of the weather over the long weekend. 7 hours out and back for me, having a full Monday to ride, it rained. A lot.

Anyway, I'll put my stuff up a bit later, good pics, I see you hit Chateau de Carton pretty hard..... :)

Is it just me, or did anyone else hear the sounds of flutes and David Carradine's voice while watching these pix? Beautiful and tranquil scenery!

I'll continue the thread with the last 3 days of the campout.... Matt was there for Halloween, I couldn't get there till Nov. 1. The 3rd was a holiday in Japan, so stretched it to 3 days out.

For me, this is a bit far, about 7 hours away. So a day out, ride around, day back. But always fun to meet up with this group.

BBQ was under construction.... you can't use lighter fluid here, sometimes you use this weird gel stuff, but basically most people torch it.

Not sure what was going on with the charcoal, it was like fireworks in there. I'll explain the ritual Kirin cans later.

Sparkling wine in Titanium REI mug. Doesn't get any more classy than that.....

So.... the grill is usually too close to the coals.... Enter Kirin. :)

Seemed like a nice day for a ride....

The two guys on DRZs went off to find some gravel roads....leaving the rest of us to discover some great twisties....

Unfortunately, the sun didn't last long. We went up Route 29 towards Tottori, and it rained. Lots of crap on the road as well. And then it rained some more. And got really cold. We aborted the plans to go on smaller roads, because even the "big" road was really slippery, especially with the crap from the cedar trees everywhere. Saw a snowplow and a couple sand trucks getting ready for the cold front coming....

Eventually got to a few km outside tottori and got lunch at some restaurant.

Spagbol! (sorry, this is as exotic as my meals got....)

Of course, the day I had to hoof it home, the weather was great. However, the cold front came through and it was COLD! Wasn't really prepared for that.

-the end-

Hey, how did I miss this RR?

Nice, nice, nice!

This will sound funny - but it seems strange to me to see Japanese bike in Japan?
