It all started with a simple question when a business associate in Las Vegas with whom I have become good friends with over the last three or four years asked, "When are you coming to see me, man?" The ball was rolling but with limited time this was one trip that would have to leave the FJR behind. He checked his calendar and I checked airfares and we decided I would visit at the end of July. Our plan was simple, he would pick me up at the airport and we would head to one end of the strip and begin making our way to the other, finding any and all fun available at points in between. So, I climbed aboard the Southwest 737 in Birmingham last Friday for my 4 hour non-stop flight to McCarron International. A few beverages later and I was landing in Sin City.

Soon, my associate welcomed me to what would be my Castle for the next 36 hours, the 27th Floor of the Excalibur Hotel.

He was asked me what I thought of the digs...

Then, we ordered our first of MANY rounds to come. It wasn't long before he was giving everyone the sport touring salute.

Not in a bad way, it was all good. Then we met up with another one of our associates. I'm not sure who the dweeb is in the background with the :dribble: look on his face...

From there, it just started getting kind of silly...

Elvis told me it was time to go to bed. I wasn't about to argue with the King so up to the 27th floor I went. I woke up the next morning to this view.

Another associate asked me if I wanted breakfast...

I asked him why we have to SpongeBob cereal when we can have this is just down the street?

With FULL bellies, we struck out from the Mandalay Bay brunch buffet and next thing you know we were having jello shots in New York.

Then, we find a quaint little spot, the deck of self anointed Party Aficionato Sammy Hagar's Cabbo Wabbo, overlooking one of the busiest streets in the world.

They tried to save us, but we ended up watching a show of a different kind.

I'm not sure how it happened but next thing you know we were in Venice.

There are some tall people in Venice!

IMG_5582.JPG

IMG_5585.JPG

But we had to move on... remember, we are on a mission, 2.5 miles in under 36 hours.

IMG_5587.JPG

So we board the spaceship and wah-la, we are transported to this place, which by the way, if we chose to stay there that night would have been $495 for a "standard" room!

But it's getting close to dinnertime and we have a date... so we cab it back to the Castle and put on our fancy pants and hurry over to Mandalay Bay with our dates.

I'm just kidding, actually that's our associate's wife, who only recently became a new mother and is out for one of her first night's out without child.

Here's daddy, eating what appears to be baby's meal.

More fancy drinks... some "turn of the century" Absinthe.

2012-07-28_20-04-05_426.jpg

Then it was off to Russia to visit the Red Square.

2012-07-28_21-55-28_621.jpg

Then up to the Mix Club on the 67th floor of Mandalay Bay.

2012-07-28_22-55-04_82.jpg

where there was some reality show being filmed.

It's time to say good night to my associate, so down the elevator he goes...

and into the dark night.

The Bandit wasn't finished and not long afterwards, met some guys in town from Miami. We took a cab down to the Chandelier Room at The Cosmopolitan. But, as they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so no pics from this chapter, that finally ended with another cab ride back to the Castle around 5 am.

With a 10 am check out... what else but the Breakfast of Champions...

2012-07-29_09-48-32_506.jpg

With the 2.5 miles in 36 hours completed, we check out of the Castle. But I still have 24 more hours in Sin City. We'll pick up here when I get back....

IMG_5611.JPG

So now it's Sunday morning, I'm in Vegas for another 24 hours. We have about an hour until check out and takes all of our energy to just get packed.

IMG_5606.JPG

But our plan is to get off the strip for the day and do some other things. As we are putting the bags in the car to head to my associates house I spot the 2011 FJR with Washington plates. So hello to whoever was at the Castle on what appeared to have been a big ride, considering the number of bugs on the windshield.

IMG_5609.JPG

We wave goodbye to the strip and start headed out of town.

The scenery begins to change and change quickly.

Next thing you know we were at 7,700 ft hanging out at Mt. Charleston lodge, looking up at the 11,916 ft. peak of Mt. Charleston.

We head back down the mountain checking out the incredible cabins on the mountainside.

By now, it's pushing 4 pm and it had been quite an adventure. Thankfully, we still have all of our teeth, we haven't lost any of our friends, and although we met spiderman and saw batman, it had been a very exhausting 48 fun filled hours and I have an early flight the next morning. So, to save my buddy from having to take me to the airport at 5 am I arrange for a reasonably priced room back on the strip. Well, not quite on the strip, but plenty close with one of the best views in all of Vegas. How about a suite at Palms Place on the 53rd floor for the amazing price of $59!

as night falls I pull the curtains closed, say good night and write the final chapter of Hangover 3.

Some of us could have come down for a meet, ya know. If you'd posted.

FWFE - Thanks for the comment! I think you recognized the point of the post for sure. Something along those lines was even considered a sub title initially.

Sac Mike - Would you come down next time and show our lame ***** how to really have fun. ;) Now, there's your invite. I'm gonna hold you to it. :p

Peg - ****? WTF, LOL! BTW your wife is right, I'm not!

Top Speed - Thanks dude - it's hard not to have fun in that crazy *** town isn't it...

Bounce - because he is bombed, duh. :D BTW - not long after that picture was taken he spilled the drink you see in his hand. That was a full pour of four different Vodkas. I'm mean, we were in Red Square after all.
