Happy Birthday, Canada! Joyeux anniversaire, si vous habitez au Québec.

Had a very enjoyable holiday in Canada some years ago. Then, two years ago, we went up a bit of the west coast - the "Inside Passage".

A very cold wifey.

Hadn't realised this was their 150th birthday, so thank you Mike for bringing it up.

Happy Birthday Canada is right! I love the land and the people. Coupled with that a certain Nakusp ride a few years back..

150 Mounties on the Capilano Suspension Bridge near Vancouver...
That's a scary sight. In 1987 the Golden Gate Bridge turned 50 years old and they closed it to traffic so people could walk across. Over a quarter of a million did. It was gridlocked (think if you really really had to pee, halfway across), and the weight was the heaviest the bridge ever bore. By a LOT. Turns out 250,000 people weigh more than a couple thousand cars. They flattened the bridge--no arch. Engineers realized later it really couldn't have taken much more. All I thought of when I saw this pic was 150 Mounties taking a long leap. Sheesh.

150 years old and not too much trouble on the way.

A small dust up with the Americans in 1812 but we both got over it

As for out indigenous peoples, they don't quite see the 150 the same way.

I see their point...
