I took a couple of days off from work so I could work on the house. I've gotta improve the ventilation to the attic so I get more life out of my next roof. Installing a continuous soffit vent, rafter vents, correcting some attic insulation issues...
So, I was taking a break yesterday evening when my oldest step daughter stopped by. She often stops at our house on her way home from work, especially if her husband has evening softball, or hockey, or bowling... When she stops in, she sweetly says "What did you guys have for dinner?" Translation: "Do you have any food? I don't want to cook when I get home."
Anyway, when I saw her stop in front of the house yesterday, I said to my wife "Your oldest daughter is here."
My wife mockingly replies "I wonder why." (I can sense the unspoken "you idiot")
Then it dawned on me. She was stopping to wish me a happy birthday. Sweet.
