I got out this morning in the 18 degree cold and rode 115 miles. The sun was out and it's a beautiful but cold day. The biggest hazard are the mini glaciers that form on the side of the road where water runs off a hillside.
Warm N Safe heated gear work! Just sayin.

Happy New Year...Go ride!
Happy New Year to all!

Tom, What the Hell where you thinking, it's COLD! I thought about the bike, wished I could ride but that's as far as my sanity allowed. See you in warmer temps!

John

It's therapeutic. I think I'll do it again before they commit me for winter insanity. BTW there were a surprising number of bikes out there today, so I guess I'm just fitting in to the Pittsburgh scene.

I hear ya Tom...would have been out there myself, if I could have. Just seeing the sun and blue sky today maid me feel a little better.

We rode to Sac today to meet up with Rogdeb etc for brunch. 39 when we left and mid fourty's most of the way. People were looking at us like we were polar explorers. Sheesh it was above freezing folks, it's not like we are Tom in PA.

I haven't done a new years ride since I left CA, so I missed 2012 and 2013. This just seemed to set things right for me. And I understand how cold 40 degrees can feel in CA at 60 MPH. It's just more than a Californian should bear. I feel for yinz guys. Hey, at least we don't live in Canada. Those hosers are screwed!

I hope 2015 is great. Here's to another year of riding, new adventures, great new friends and awesome old friends!!

Going to be a heavy-duty riding year for us; Annie and I are going to blaze across the Desert West a lot this upcoming year!

We are staff for:

  • the Cal24, headquartered in central California in in June.
  • the Iron Butt Rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico in July
  • the "Workin' on the Railroad" rally in Big Sky, Montana in early August
We are going to try to make the Team Lyle Stampede in May, so Annie can earn her IBA membership.

But the bulk of our riding will be scouting bonuses for the 2016 Cognoscente Group event. That rally is so huge/complex, it is taking two years to scout all the bonuses.... thousands and thousands of miles of reconn work ahead.

Annie and I consider it a labor of love!

Dale!!! It's good to see you woke up. I think you have posted more in the last two days than in the last two years. Have a great 2015.

Remind me a couple weeks before Albuquerque. We'll take you to grab dinner or something. I'll be glad to help out if you need it. Maybe it'll be the push I need to try a couple of these things.

See you in July.

Happy New Year, AJ...........2015 will be a kickass year!

All the best, your birthday buddy
