Harbor Freight/Central Machinery Tire Changer

I bought the HF tire changer and soon gave it to somebody I didn't like. The next one was the Coats 220 manual machine and it worked great. I probably did close to a hundred tires with it. When I moved I sold the Coats to a friend and bought a Atlas TC411 power machine for my new shop. The jury is still out on it as I have only used it three times but the ease of changing these rear tires sure is nice. It was to much money but I am a bit of a tool freak and I also get paid to change tires. Sometimes.

By the way, if you are having problems with your rim slipping in the supports of the HF stand, there is a simple solution.

Drill a hole through one of the horizontal support legs under the rim, and run a rod up through the hole. Then positon one of the spokes of the rim against the rod so the rod prevents the wheel from being able to turn. It is an easy mod. Just put some cloth between the rod you use and the wheel spoke so it doesn't scratch it.

I have attempted to get on Mitch's waiting list for about six weeks now with no success. Seems the address for his e-mail is invalid or just won't work for me (hotmail) I tried removing the end of the address and sending an e-mail to him via my hotmail, which seemed to at least work. My e-mail indicated that his full e-mail address was invalid Even asked Marc Parnes to contact him, if possible.

Gee, I hope I haven't landed on a universal 'ignore' list. Anyway, has anyone else had a problem contacting Mitch?
