i remember seeing a few posts on these, although i never got a review on how good they worked.any marring of the rim when you lock it down?are any items coated?any pointers from those that purchased?would appreciate any feed back, thanks

I have the HF tire changer with motorcycle changer attachment. About half of what comes with the changer you wind up not using. I invested in many different options in a search for the optimal tire changer setup. Bought NoMar changer bar, NoMar spoons, in fact, I may have the world's finest collection of unused tire changing paraphenalia.

My advice, buy the HF changer and motorcycle attachment. Forget using the pry bar included. It's guaranteed to scratch everything within a five mile radius. Buy yourself three really good (and long) spoons. Use the HF changer to hold the rim while you do the changing with spoons. Use the wooden block trick as shown on NoMar's web site (look for Changing Stiff Sidewall Tires video). NoMar's tire snot is awesome.

Synopsis; HF changer holds the rim well with minimal scratching, three good quality and long spoons (with wooden blocks) gets it done, use good tire snot. I just saved you several hundred dollars.

If you decide you want to try the NoMar bar, spoons etc., PM me for a bargain price on barely used items.

:clapping: Here we go again - I have a brand new, unused, HF Tire Changer with Motorcycle attachement I will sell for CHEAP - how about $50.00? I bought it in a fit of frenzy - although I like to work on my bikes, I may (WAS) have been over optimistic with regard to my desire for busting tires. I have never used it and I am sure never will. I live in San Clemente and really am not interested in taking it apart and packing it for a sale out of state. So if you're local - and want a brand new, UNUSED Tire Changer PM me.

I looked at the No-Mar changers yesterday at the IMS in Atlanta. They rock! I have the HF changer and have not used it yet. Fred's video will help a lot. I have no doubt that the HF will work but the difference in quality between the HF and No-Mar is huge. I think the No-Mar will be more user friendly and be much easier on the wheels. The HF requires some mods to make it work well. I hear a lot of folks coat the contact points w/ the wheel with that liquid plasic stuff. The No-Mar spoons are also a good investment to use w/ the HF changer.

Hey,

I have the NoMar and it works pretty much as advertised. On any changer just make sure you keep the bead opposite the spoons or changing bar down in the valley of the rim as you work around the rim. Its definitely a two hand operation.

My semi-local Harbor Freight store had the changer and the adapter for $39.95 each. Drove the 60 miles & picked them up yesterday. Good deal!
