custom is kinda kewl....they really need something different from the ubiquitous pirate bike..

The Custom 1250 pictures on their site seem to show a HUGE front tire, like maybe a 190/50? Wonder how bad that thing will not want to turn?

I only took a couple of test rides on the V-Rod many years ago, but that engine was sweet. I know they killed off the V-Rod and Street Rod just lately.....any new offerings get that engine? That liquid cooled engine moved.

It's really not much uglier than current offerings from Europe and Japan. Who knows it might surprise you.

I wonder how Harley is going to build their "lifestyle" around this abomination. Bark buster with fringe? Leather panniers? Perhaps they will start a chain of bars out in the woods?

I actually hope that Harley is successful with these new models. They may not be my cup of tea, but I really want all motorcycle manufacturers to be as successful as possible. I figure the more bikes on the road, the better. Granted, I absolutely don't care for straight pipes and tassels but at least it gets away from the pirate bike image.

Whether the bikes are any good or not...

The people who buy Harleys won't even look at Japcrap wannabees. Look at how they did with Buell and Vrod. How many Harley owners were seduced by the technically mechanically superior Yamaha, Honda and Victory cruisers?

The people who buy sport touring (or adventure touring) bikes won't look at anything with the Harley brand for the most part.

Harley and non-Harley riders form very different demographic groups. The MoCo will have to produce some very convincing products if they expect to make any headway on this initiative. From a company not particularly known for technical innovation or offering low price incentives to attract new customers from outside the Harley world...

Good luck!

I want one of these. No ****.

As for an H-D sport tourer, I'll keep an open mind.

Like the deagle says above, that V-Rod engine was a monster! Seating on a V-Rod was similar to sliding board posture, with my feet WAY out front, but that engine was something to experience.

Maybe they steal a few ideas from BMW K-bikes, the FJR, Concours, Gold Wing, and their own ability to add massive amounts of luggage ...
