HEY I GOT AN IDEA!PUT ON YOUR PANTS AFTER A NIGHT IN THE FREEZER THEN SHUT UP AND DRIVE!
Someone on the West Coast took pictures where an owner had added a "flap" under the rear of the fairing. Evidently it was working like an airfoil on a racecar and "pulling" the engine air through the bottom of the fairing area. That would effectively pull engine heat from the rider cockpit. Radman was going to try the experiment but I don't remember reading that he had successfully copied the idea.
Aha, Dave, so you did try it. Since, as a resident "guru", you are reporting it works, I'm going to try it. The summer is just too hot out here in the valley and if this helps the "cool down" and mid-speed, like during commute times, all is good. Thin sheet metal, like the above mentioned "license plate" works, huh? Do you think that is better than something hinged? We gots lotsa speed bumps, en I'm not a lightweight. It does work. I've noticed that on familiar routes, especially mid speed (40-60 mph) ones, that the bike is much quicker on the cool down after a stop, I'd say about 25-30%. It also was much less likely to get into the three bar area while under way in hot weather, in fact, as long as I wasn't tucked in tight on someones rear, Frank would run at 2 bars at 70-80mph in hunnert degree temps, where he used to run at three.
He's making a new one as we drug the old one off on the twisties!in fact, as long as I wasn't tucked in tight on someones rear, Frank would run at 2 bars
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm..........
Radman, this whole thing is worthless without pictures.... :evilsmiley:
