A guy I know bought a 1978 (?) Gold wing and this has turned into his pet project. The thing was in pretty bad shape and he has spent allot of time and energy restoring this bike. The other day when I saw him he told me he had bought a newer motor, the orginal had of 100K miles and this new one only had about 38K on it. He said he was going to paint the new motor black and paint the bike Burgundy. Which got me wondering has anyone on this forum painted their motor a different color?
I realize that most of the motor is covered by fairing, but there are parts the peek aboo out from the vents. I was thinking if you painted the motor red it would be kinda like these hot rodders who paint their brake calipers red, and they kinda peek aboo out through the wheels.
It might give the bike a interesting twist from the standard smoke gray, depending on the color combination.
Say a black 08 with a black motor would change the lines of the bike, but may become too much, would start to look like the BAT BIKE. :dribble:
