By any chance does anyone know if a mirror from a Gen 1 fits a 2017?

Yes, the bolt pattern fits. However, they may not be the exact same length and position as the stock mirrors.
A common thing to do has been get a longer set of early-generation Yamaha FZ-1 mirrors and bolt those on. They're like Gen 1 mirrors but noticeably longer.

Yep. FZ1 mirrors are a big improvement. Any year below 2006 will work.

Not sure why you would want to put Gen I mirrors on a 2017??? They are fugly!

Nope. Since he didn't specify, I am assuming he was asking about putting Gen I FJR mirrors on an 2017. They would offer no additional benefit and be butt-ass ugly at the same time.
If you're gonna go that route might as well do Gen 1 FZ1 mirrors. Same look, better functionality.
Gen 1 mirrors on Gen 2/3 scooters offer the Additional benefit of the ability to spread them further apart to look into the lanes on either side when in multi-lane environments. The Gen 2/3 mirrors are design limited in their range of adjustment. Function over form!! And yes the FZ1 mirrors give even more field of view.
Besides beauty is in the eye of the beer holder!!
And besides that, why do you GAF what someone else does to their scooter???

Like the Fart Smeller above me said, we was just having some fun. No animals were harmed or took offense at the content of our posts.......
I grew up with 3 older brothers. My dad kept some boxing gloves just for this type of thing. He would have pushed both of you out the back door, thrown the gloves at you and said 'put em on boys'. You were not allowed to stop till both were leaning against each other, shoulder to shoulder, gloves hanging on the arms, unable to raise them. More than one issue was forever forgotten over a pair of gloves. 
Here are my thoughts.
The stock FJR mirrors are marginal at best unless all you want to see are your shoulders. I had the OEM FZ1 mirrors on my Gen 2 and they made a dramatic improvement. But even better were the OEM FZ1 mirrors on my Gen 3 as the spacing is slightly wider so even better rear field of view .
I'm not sure how the knock off mirrors (Emgo and others) fare against the OEM offerings so I can't make that comparison. The OEM Yamaha FZ1 mirrors are very solid and IMO much better for their intended purpose.
Your call on the aesthetics.

Not all of us are big guys. I find the stock mirrors completely acceptable. I have had FJR buddies wider in girth and chest in which they were useless and I convinced to go to the FZ-1 mirrors. Myself, I just don't care for the aesthetics of them.
