Bought an FJR just a few days ago. Tried getting her up on the center a couple of times and failed.

Went to youtube to see how its done and tried a few more times.I still cant get it up.

I can put my Father's Gwing on its center stand with out much of an issue.

When I bought the bike the previous owner said he put lowering links on the bike. Could this be my issue?

Thanks for the quick reply, I got the original links with the sale. I'll look into replacing the lowering links.

You'll have to roll your bike onto a 2x6 to get it on the center stand, until you undo the lowering. Then it is all technique: stand the bike up and bring the stand down. Lean the bike to the right until both C-stand pads are touching the ground. Then press the stand down. Bike should pop up.

Or... if you like the height of the bike with the lowering links, the simple solution requires grinding down the center stand to take into account the inch or so that the bike is lowered.

Ride with a buddy that had a '13 FJR and now has a '17 FJR... both have lowering links and both have a fully functional center stand. It just takes a little grinding to take a small section out of the center stand... putting the lowered bike on its center stand is now a "piece of cake."

If you un-lower it, you'll get MUCH better lean angles for all those curvy roads in Queens. (My kid attended USMMA in King's Point.)

Un-lower it and get better easier, steering . Changes fork angle. More height for pegs if you like to turn - lean it hard.

A 2X6 is a bit extreme. I would try a 1X3X6. Roll the rear tire up on it and give it a try.
Ditto. You won't believe how much easier that 3/4" will make it. But as others have suggested, if you don't need it lowered, install the stock links for better clearance.

You know a 2x6 is only 3/4 of an inch thicker, right? Nothing "extreme" about it. However, I'm sure he doesn't need 6 feet of 1x3 in order to stand the bike up.

1x3 is awfully thin to stand the bike on. The 3 is the width. A 2x4 is a ***** to try that with. Wouldn't go less than a 6x, regardless of thickness.

OP, use whatever you have. Just gotta raise the rear a bit, to get the bike far enough off the ground to let the stand rotate down. Definitely not rocket science.

or... you could put on a new design center stand....did that on my '06 'cause the old stand was so rusty....cut the effort in half...

I took his post to mean 6 inch length, not feet. But nonetheless, whatever thickness you use, cut the end at a 45 degree angle, and it'll bump up on it easier. I know; it's not that hard to roll up on the square edge, but a bevel cut is a bit easier.

I broke my arm a few years back and had to use a 1 x 4 to get my ZRX up on the stand for a while. Like I said, you'd be amazed at how much 3/4" helps. But 1 1/2 is obviously easier. Just try 'em both and see what works best.

Caution, though. With the rear wheel on a board, it'll lean farther on the side stand. Be ready for that.

There have been different people who have posted here different fixes to the center stand to shorten it. One cut out a section and re welded. Another cut a section off the top and drilled new lower holes and I believe there is even one available commercially already shortened or adjustable. I've never got around to tackling mine yet, for the times I need to use the center stand I go the wood route. 3/4 Ply is my choice.

Put a larger tire on it. Might help somewhat.

Edit: It's early wasn't thinking straight yet. I guess that would defeat the purpose of lowering the bike. Can you put a Gen3 Center stand on the bike? I believe they are shorter.
