LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his son, Patrick, received minor injuries Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle accident near their home, the governor's press secretary said in a written statement.
According to Margita Thompson, the governor received 15 stitches to repair a cut lip. Both he and his son also were treated for minor cuts and bruises, and were released from St. John's Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

"The accident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. when another driver backed into a street in front of Governor Schwarzenegger as he rode his Harley-Davidson motorcycle," Thompson said. "The governor was unable to avoid the vehicle in his path and collided with it at a low speed."

Patrick, 12, was a passenger in the motorcycle's sidecar. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

"The governor is expected to keep previously scheduled appointments" on Monday, Thompson said.

Is there any other speed available? :p :bleh: :D

As you can see, he scraped his head a bit, no helmet, contrary to published reports (live coal miners anyone?), and no sign of the kid.

Well, you see, the sidecar was attached, so he had no way to lay the bike down to avoid a collision.

Imagine the poor citizen, who was not at fault, of course. Too bad the Governator wasn't driving the "Hummer".......think of the cell-phone conversation the cager was having, "Okay, Margaret, I'm backing out ot the driveway and headed to the store. Oh %$*&!, Some motorcycle just hit my car, stupid bikers...Hey, this guy looks just like Arnold Schwartzenager! Oh-oh, I have to call 911. I'll call you right back."

Now we need a new decal for our cages: "Please watch out for motorcycles, the Governator rides one"!

Ya know, the sad commentary is not that the Govenator was involved, but that a motorcyclist and his son were involved in an accident not of their making. Another caged ******* pulling out of a drive or side road without looking (or giving a ****) as happened to me twice yesterday!

I would hate to be the ******* that pulled out in front of him... that's gonna be one sorry mofo or mofoette!

I just gotta find a way to mount that flux beam lazer...

At least they were wearing helmets....
By sounds of the injuries he/they should have been wearing a full face lid. But no everyone wants to look cool at the expense of their face. Humm maybe it will help his ratings? B)

The Governor does not possess a motorcycle endorsement. A spokesman for the Governor explained that, "There was some confusion by Governor Ahhhnold on the correct license to have. He misunderstood California law that exempts riders from vehicles with less than 50cc's from needing a motorcycle endorsement. The Governor thought it was motorcycles less than 50 horsepower, and therefor his Harley-Davidson would be exempt also."

:p :stunned:

I wonder where his bodyguard entourage was. Can you imagine the lady's horror when, after the accident, she was surrounded by 10 trenchcoat-wearing men talking to their wristwatches and reaching under their left armpit. :haha:

Funny about the endorsement, maybe he should get a Trike! :beee:

Those kits come with a leading link front suspension so that, as a 3 wheeler, the rider has larger brakes and more front tire for steering and remaining stable in turns. Basically, you remove your front forks and bolt your bike into the kit, then paint to your liking.

Notice the 'Busa in the background on the same kit/chassis.

I heard this morning that Ahrnold's laywers are going to go with the argument that the sidecar made it 'not' a motorcycle and therefore he didn't need a motorcycle endorsement. Like I'm sure he's never ridden one with just two-wheels before... NOT! Why doesn't he just say "I screwed up" and take the punishment like a man instead of a politician. I'd have more respect for him doing that.

+1

The real PR win for him would be to fess-up, pay the fine, and then (very publicly) take the requred MSF courses to get his endorsement.
