What a great trip and memory for you both! My sister is taking my daughter and I to Vegas for my birthday to see "The Lion King" next month. I've seen it before and was just in awe of it so I'm looking forward to seeing it Vegas style... :)

Great report, and good-on-ya for taking her along. And I'm glad to see she was wearing all the appropriate riding gear, including boots. My daughter rode with me from the time she was 9 until she finished up high-school. I believe our riding times are one of the reasons we made it through those awful emotional teen years.

From a ride to Idaho years ago during my Harley time (when I didn't wear all the gear):

You will love it (again!), I really was blown away by everything about the show. I know you'll have way too much fun! We're already "plotting" our next trip. Phantom of the Opera is looking more and more likely!

LDRyder,

Thanks for the pic! Yep, we all do the ATGATT thing now a days. I know what you mean about those emotional teen years. As previously mentioned my daughter is going to a school for the performing arts, so we joke that she's really a "Drama Queen!". (She doesn't like it when I say that????)

I'll show my daughter your pic and post when she gets home!

The Cirque du Soleil shows are supposed to be pretty amazing... I've seen pretty much every one of their shows when they come to the Bay Area and it is a spectacular spectacle every time! :)

OK! The Cirque du Soleil shows are on the "list". Thanks for the idea!

Gunny on the Cirque shows. I'm going to be in Vegas for a conference next month and the wife is meeting me there (I'm riding and she's flying due to work commitments). I might surprise her with two tix... but I really want to see Blue Man Group too. I saw Phantom in Portland and it blew me away.

This is a great story. Love the spirit of you two ....and I the story got my attention because my brother in law (Brian) is a counselor at the Las Vegas performing arts school. Intersting stuff.

Then today kathy tells me ...Brian just got us tickets to Lion King ...we're going to vegas this weekend. I immediately thought of you two. I hope kahty and I have as much fun as you two did ...I promise we'll try!

..john in reno (not nearly as close to vegas as you are!!)

John,

That is cool, and I'm sure that you and Kathy will have a great time watching the Lion King! I'm familiar with the country around Reno, I grew up in Carson City, and graduated from UNR. However, I haven't lived in that area for over 30 years, visiting only occasionally. I keep "threatening" a friend of mine in Carson that I'm gonna ride the FJR up there to visit this Spring! Just need to find a few days of decent weather. If I come up I'll go via Panaca/Caliente to "extraterrestrial highway" to Tonopah and Yerington, etc.. Maybe another ride report??

Have fun!

Bob

Great trip for you both --- good for you Dad (Bob) :clapping:

One of our younger grandgirls is just itching to ride with me. She's just 10 and we're awaiting the go-ahead from Momma.

We had a good time. Kathy gave the Lion King a better grade than I did, but it was good fun ...and of course a few days in Vegas is always fun. We really had a great time. Death Valley both directions so that added to the trip.
Yes, you'll have to head this way, UNR has changed much in the last 30years, both good and bad, it will always be University of "Nevada", in spite of the southern geeks trying to take that. Be sure to look me up when you do head this way. and ya, the ET highway is always silly fun.

Due to this great thread I was inspired to buy two tickets to the Lion King (especially when John wasn't as keen about it -- must be good). And I also Googled Cycle Gear and they have a shop in Springfield, OR. I'm going to get my wife her last major piece of ATGATT; a road trip to pick up boots for her is in order.

Thank you for the inspiration. I see a bike ride with my daughter, and later with my son in the future this riding season.

John,

Glad to hear your trip was a success! I'd bet the wildflowers in parts of Death Valley are pretty spectacular right now. I was in Phoenix on Saturday/Sunday and many of the "old timers" said they'd never seen it so green in that country! the wildlowers were just starting to appear down that way.

I will be sure to let you know if I can visit my friend in Carson this Spring.

Take care, Bob

ShinyPartsUp,

Glad to hear you're headed to see the Lion King!! We'll have to get a review from you, to compare to John's, don't you think??

I'm glad to hear this thread inspired you, I know you're gonna have fun.

Take care,

Bob

Bob, here(clicky) are a few random pics and the silly story as we made our way through DV toward vegas. On the way back (after two days of remodeling vegas) we headed back into DV and did Titus Canyon, which was spectacular. Yes, I've never seen the valley as green, and been there hundreds of times. --and we did see quite a few flowers or as the geeks call it: "The bloom" --a few pics in the link above.

Outstanding! Reminded me of the times I took my step-daughter riding in England.

OK! Here's the report! Sunday AM my daughter and I packed our gear and at about noon we suited up, moved the bike onto the driveway and started her up! We ARE going! Here's some pics of the "send off":

Although I had to do a double take here. At first I thought she was giving the TWN salute and that you had to be an awfully cool Dad but, on further, closer, inspection, I noticed it was "V" for victory.
