Tommorrow am (12/3). Gonna do my part to discourage these *****

Just got off the phone with the Pocahontas Sheriff. He received a fax that the WBC will protest at Spc. Tull's funeral. The Sheriff said he is looking forward to our attendance. He wants to post us in front of the church as the Honor Guard. We will meet with the Sheriff at the Pocahontas Courthouse at 9am on Saturday. Please let as many people as possible to attend.    And bring Lots of Flags.

Well, quite the interesting day, to be sure. Up at 4:30 am, on the road by 5:15 in order to drive the 230 miles to the Church. Snow and ice all the way, kept my speed down around 75 or so, slower than I like to go, but all the stuff in the ditch scared the amatuers, and they just kept getting in the way.

Once there, joined up with what turned out to be a fairly large group of folks, largely members of the VFW Riders Club out of Des Moines. Also in attendence were some members from Omaha and rural Iowa (yes, Des Moines is considered a city, a word with a different definition in Iowegian). All in all, about 35-40 people were there, all Vets, some with wives in attendence.

And yes, the fucksticks showed up. And lived up, in spades, to all the hype. These creeps have to be seen and heard to be believed. They numbered about .....9. With some young children amongst them. 1 van load. But they screamed obscenities loud enough to compensate. The police, of which there were probably 50-60 present, local, county, and patrol, had come up with some novel ideas for keeping the scum away from the family. A tractor trailer, a police trailer with a gen-set running (and powering nothing, but providing sound loud enoough to overcome most of the slime's bellowing), and finally, a school bus strategically parked so as to further block any view the scuz might have of the churchyard. Then a line of barricades. Then police, another line of barricades, then us. The sleaze never had a hope in hell (and they would know) of having any impact on the proceedings, other than their presence, which their nemesis had given his life to ensure. We had a 3X5 American flag, and an equal size Legion flag, as well as hundreds of smaller lawn flags, all of which were proudly displayed further blocking the moistasscheeseites attempt to influence the brethren. They bellowed, they sang (and forgot, apparently, the words to their *******ized version of "America the Beautiful they made several attempts to complete), and displayed their signs, examples of which can be seen on their highly logical web site. Our group was incredibly well behaved, even when one of the morphidites yelled "The ****** lover Tull is in Hell!!!" as loud as his/it's transvestited lungs could manage, which wasn't much. Hell, we thought the kids had gotten into the act. I really don't think J Adams and Co. had them in mind when framing the Constitution, but, it's all part of the deal I guess.

The Klingons (sorry, Warf) finally left, possibly to go baptize each other in a nearby creek, as suggested by several of our august group. We were then invited into the church, where many of the family, police, and serving military thanked us for being there, they were all very gracious. After a moving service, we were then asked to participate in rendering honors, which we were proud to do. As the casket was removed from the church to the hearse for the final road trip, we were intermingled with the active duty military present there on one side, and all the police on the other. All these ragged biker bums remembered every word the DI's had drilled into them, when the order for "Attention", and "Render Arms" came, you would have sworn we were one well rehearsed drill team, as all snapped to and saluted as one, just as if the years had never passed by. It was very emotional, and I don't think it was just the cold making for runny noses this day. More than one member of the family gave us a return salute disembarking from the church, including one youngster that brought to mind a scene from a Presidential burial so long ago. It did indeed make the long hours worth every second.

I encourage other veterans here to think about becoming a part of this group. There will be funerals to come, and ones presence not only shows support for those who now fight our battles for us and their families, but also reminds oneself of "Why WE Fight". A slice of America was here today, and once again, the good guys won. It was an honor, Sgt Tull, Rest In Peace.

Radman - Thank You.

I lost a good friend in Nam - and I'm glad to know that guys like you are doing your bit to preserve the honor that our fallen heroes deserve.

If I ever meet you, I'm buying the drinks.

God Bless and be Safe.

pardon my ignorance but what is wbc?
Rad, Well Done. Thank you for your service to our country and our fallen heros.

I never have understood why anyone would protest the individual soldier. While we may not all agree with our government's policies, the individual soldier still has a duty and should be praised by all of us for risking and paying the ultimate price. My thanks to all of you who are serving and who have served.

WBC sounds like a fanatical hypocritic bunch of fuckwits. We're talking about the Westboro Baptist Church, correct?

WBC

I think that any "Christian" who would disrupt and disrespect anyone's funeral can go to HELL. There's a time and place for protest, and I don't think a memorial service of any kind is the place to do it.

Looking at their website, I can imagine that these folks must be moronic bottom feeders.

Sorry, I'm late to the discussion. Was Tull a brother from a "long past war" or was a young man from this war?

Why was the WBC protesting? What did they have agains this guy?

My respects, :rip:

Pocahontas soldier dies in Iraq

National Guardsman Gregory Tull was scheduled to come home within a month.

November 28, 2005

A 20-year-old Pocahontas National Guardsman who was scheduled to come home within the next month was killed in Iraq on Friday.

Spc. Gregory L. Tull became the 31st Iowan to die in Iraq since the U.S. invasion in 2003, including two civilian contractors. Two Iowans also have died in Afghanistan.

Tull was killed in Al Anbar province during combat operations when insurgent forces detonated an improvised explosive device next to the armored Humvee in which he was the gunner, Iowa National Guard spokesman Lt. Col Gregory Hapgood said at a news conference Sunday.

The attack occurred near the city of Hit, Iraq, about 85 miles west of Baghdad. The area has been a hotbed of violence and has been the location for many of Iowa's casualties, Hapgood said.

The driver and commander in the Humvee were injured in the attack. Their names and conditions were not available.

Tull was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 194th Field Artillery, based in Storm Lake.

Roger Francis, principal of Pocahontas Area High School , said that he remembered Tull being a hard worker.

"When I think of Greg, I continue to think of him on the basketball court. He played in the post position and was usually outsized by his opponents, but he didn't care. He had a great work ethic. Once he set his mind to something, he achieved his goals."

Roger Sommerlot was the football coach when Tull played starting tight end for Pocahontas in high school.

"He enjoyed doing the best he could to serve his country," Sommerlot said.

"It was kind of like how he did when he played sports. He did the best he could for his school and his team. It was very similar. That was a good characteristic of Greg that we should remember. "

Tull's parents, Eileen and Gary, both Iowa natives, returned to Iowa from California in 1992. The family owns More Than Floors, a furniture store in Humboldt.

He also is survived by a brother, Bryan, and by his grandparents, Bill and Janet Velau of Garner, and Erland and Phyllis Nelson of Humboldt.

Hapgood said Tull was a gifted soldier with a bright future.

Already a specialist at age 20, he was chosen to serve as the commander's gunner, a position with much responsibility.

"He was a guy that didn't shirk responsibility," Hapgood said.

"He was a guy who would volunteer. In the Army one of the things they say is: 'Don't do it, never volunteer.' But he did. He wanted in on the action."

Cody Bunda, 21, played basketball, football and baseball with Tull and remembered him as a "happy person and a great teammate."

"He was always willing to share the spotlight, and he usually did it with a smile on his face," Bunda said.

Tull was born in Phoenix in December 1984.

He graduated from Pocahontas Area High School in 2003.

He attended South Dakota State University before volunteering for the war in Iraq in November 2004.

Why would anyone want to protest at Gregory Tull? A young man who gave his fellow countrymen the greatest gift a person can give. His life.

Who is the WBC and why did they protest?

Gregory Tull, Thank you son, for my family's freedom. Without men like you we would not be able to ride our bikes or enjoy our lives. We have you and others to thank for that. May you now have eternal peace. You will always be in our prayers.

Looks like I need to pray for a whole bunch of stupid Baptists. I guess they need our help too. God, do they need our help and prayers. It's the only thing that might save them from themsleves.

If my prayers don't work, I'll go along with whatever you other guys what to do.

Update, I just read a little on the WBC site. Are they for real? Sounds like the KKK Special Olympic team. (and I apoligize to the Specail Olympians)

They hate Sweden too and I'm Swedish, kind of makes me proud.

If these guys dislike the boys fighting for america so much why don't they leave?

Because no other country would put up with them.

Time for a little visit from the "Friends of America" :assasin: :2handed:

And the "Friends of Sweden" :dwarf: :dwarf: :dwarf: :dwarf: (4 is enough for that scum)

And let's not forget the English: As Churchhill said at the beginning of lend lease:

"Give us the tools, and we will finish the job!" :axed: :axed: :axed: :axed: <nice job :haha:
