Headlight adjustment screws

Hey guys,

I know very well where they are. But I have a heck of a time determining which way to turn them. Also, it takes a lot of turns to get any noticeable response, so I just wanted to see if anybody knew for sure which way to turn them? clockwise or counterclockwise? - same for both?

Thanks for any help!! I have HIDs and I want to bring them down a little bit since I ride 2 up a lot.

I don't know what a Gen 1 is like. My '06 has adjustment knobs below and on either side of the instrument panel. The knobs show turning clockwise brings them up. Does a Gen 1 not have those?

What a pain; glad they fixed that for Gen II bikes.

Thanks for the link. I've seen that one and that is for the 03s. The 04-05s have knobs but they are also tucked up under the fairing and difficult to get to, but no too bad. They are perpendicular to the adjusting bolts referenced in that write-up. I just need to figure out which way to turn them. I'll play with it tonight and report back.

My 2004 has knobs for the adjustments, just use your fingers.

Well, I was able to find a nice wall and get them lowered equally. On 04 and 05s you turn the knobs counter-clockwise to lower the headlights. And it also took a lot of turning to get them to lower much. Probably 3-4 turns to get them to lower about 1.5" from 10' back on the centerstand. Hopefully this helps somebody!
