heat on / off solved by 2006 model?

Yamaha site says that the FJR 2006 model addresses the excessive heat on leg/thighs problem by a mid fairing adjustment. Engine heat directed in cold weather and (no heat) in hot weather. Sounds too good to be true.

Anyone can attest to this on the 2006 model?

Previous models had heat issues? Really? Huh, mine has always run cool as a cucumber, but I hear the percieved heat, um, 'problem' has been mostly resolved. Sadly though, the Road Kill Barbecue feature has been deleted for '06. Pity, there's nothing like Tin Foil Surprise fresh off the headers...

Yes...It has been greatly improved.

There is some warmth on the shin area but thats it.

On my 05 it was like having a blast furnace on my shins, and then roasting my thighs on the tank.....

The 06 is a much cooler bike

As I was riding my '06 through the Wyoming an Nevada wilderness in high 90, low 100 heat, I didn't even THINK about the heat on the bike. On my '04 (before tank blanket and insulating the tupperware) heat WAS an issue, even in the 80's. Fixable, but noticeable. A few complaints from others about the '06 and heat down low, but not from me, Kimosabe!

before everyone claims I'm whining -- let me explain.

for the most part and certainly relative to other years the '06 HAS FIXED the heat issue.

That said - this is still a hot bike as only 146 hp (or whatever it is) can produce. It is NOT a K1200LT which I never felt any heat on except in some EXTREME situations.

The '06 does not bother me with heat. IF, I was planning on riding in stop/go traffic that was mostly stopped (I probably wouldn't ride a bike) - I would probably go for a different bike. Except for long stops in hot weather and during the recent heat wave in CA - where I did put a burn on my leg from an '06 (but remember, I was riding in 118 temps for extended periods of time while wearing Darien pants with only bicycle tights underneath and it burned me just between the knee pads and my boots) - I'm not sure that there are a ton of other bikes out there that have any horsepower at all that wouldn't have done much the same.

so - unless you plan on riding in Death Valley - and stopping a lot while doing so (would that be "stopping in Death Valley"?) I'd say that the bike is a hot bike, but doesn't have burning issues. I have never experience a hot tank, which was a common complaint on previous editions.
