I like the heat wraps because you can use any grip you want. Were the heated grips are very hard. I use the dual-star.com heated wraps and they are only 29.95 I have used them on atleast three motorcycles and they work great.

Regardless of what you choose, use a Heat-Troller to control it. Much nicer. Check out THIS trick install.

Also, go HERE, scroll down to "Heated Grips" and there are five links on installing them.

Dual-Star or the Symtec are the better bargains.

+1 on the heatroller. But try and waterproof the controller, best you can, no matter how you install it. I installed mine in the dash and after a few rain rides it started turning itself to full on when the control as actually full off. The fix was to goober the whole back side in silicone sealer and be sure to install an o-ring on the shaft of the control knob with some silicone grease. It's much more better now...

What I did on my Wee Strom and will do on the FJR is to put Symtec grip heaters around the stock grips and put grip puppies over them. Use a Heat-Troller to control the heat and your hands will thak you come cooler months.

I've also had the problems with the Heat-Troller turing on in the rain. It goes full power when off which is unbearable if the weather's warm.. To stop it you can just click it to low and it will still get hot but only at the lowest power.

I used "liquid" tape on the circuit board and it helped some. Maybe I need to try the o-ring trick???

I have had the Dual Star and Heat Troller set up as well since new in 06. I had the same problem in the rain with them coming full on. I just cleaned off the circuit board and slathered it with silicone and its been fine ever since. Use the air compressor method to remove the grips, it works great. If you want to go with Grip Puppies, no problem, the heat goes through them just fine. There is lots of heat produced. I don't think I have ever had mine on full (other than in the rain, in the middle of summer, when I didn't want them to come on)
