Heated GRIPS help.

While re-working my accessory PDB to install a bluesea, a lead on one of my heated grip resistors broke. I'm stumped as to what the specs would be for a replacement. The only markings on it are 10W 2RJ. I assume that 10w means 10 watts, correct?

I was able to find these at radioshack this morning: 1ohm 10 watt & 10ohm 10watt resistors, but I'm not sure which to use (because I'm ohm impaired).

Does anyone have any idea which one I need to use? I was told that this heated grip set up is from BMW, but I don't know if that's correct or not.

If I were to change from the 2 postiion (hi/lo/off) switch to a heat troller, would that eliminate the resistors from the grip wiring?

Thanks,

Wayne.

You want a 10W 2Ω resistor. You can use the two 1Ω resistors in series to equal the 2Ω, the wattage will be fine when using the resistors in series.

A Heat Troller will eliminate the two position switch and you will no longer need the 2Ω resistor (no resistors required with a Heat Troller.)

ionbeam,

Thanks for the help; short term I'll set up the two resistors I have, long term will be an upgrade to the heat-troller.
