For sale is a used HeliBars riser part number HR09079. Includes a Ram ball. Most of the scuffs seen in the photos are under where the handle bars mount, but there is some light scuffing from keys elsewhere. Asking $200, I will cover shipping to anywhere in the lower 48.

I believe yours would be considered a Gen 3. These risers fit gen 2 and gen 3, 2006 - 2023 year model FJRs.

Picking up a new to me bike on Monday (2014) and I don’t yet know if I’ll need this riser. My current bike has some type of risers already and I can’t quite imagine riding without them …but I haven’t tried the stock position yet so I’ll have to pass for the moment.
Will pm you in a few days if nobody else pulls the trigger.

Sounds good. For me, I tried the stock position out for a little bit. It wasn’t super comfortable, I was used to an upright position like my Super Tenere is, or the cruisers before that. But it wasn’t so bad that I felt like I had to change it right away. But after putting the Russell seat on it, the extra height from the seat made me more leaned forward and the risers really helped correct that.

Funny you mention the Russell seat.
I just put one on (albeit made for someone 40 lbs heavier than I) and now I get the strangest sensation like I’m sitting up on the bike rather than down in it. I can’t be more than an inch higher than before but the bike’s got a totally different feel now. I’m getting used to it on my current bike but I imaging the stock handlebar position will be unbearable on this new bike once I install the Russell seat.
I have to assume that risers will be an essential upgrade.

Additionally, at the risk of sounding like a cycling heretic, I’m not 100% sold on the Russell seat yet - even though so many members here swear by them. Yeah, yeah. I’m not fat enough for this particular seat. I get that. But would my position be that much different if I were 40 lbs heavier?? Would I still keep sliding forward into the fuel tank like I do now?

Educate me, people!!

If you are still sliding forward, the seat wasn't made correctly. I have had at least four or five brands of custom seats and the RDL is by far the best for me. For whatever reason they don't like to raise the front of the seat enough. I guess they think it will be uncomfortable. When I had my RDL built I specifically asked them to make the front higher to keep me from sliding forward - a common issue on the FJR. They came close. After riding it for a 1,000 miles or so I still sent it back to have the front raised more. Voila! Perfect. Now, 11 years later that seat is a bit more worn and the front raised part has sunk just slightly as I guess the foam has compressed. It's still fine.

I have acquired two other used RDLs since I have too many freaking FJRs. On one the forward slide is there no doubt. On the other, it's just there a little bit. Still, those used RDLs are still more comfortable than any other seat I have tried.

I guess as handgun owners have their proverbial “holster drawer,” motorcyclists have a box full of the seats that we hoped would make the cut and didn’t or just wound up as surplus for one reason or another, lol!
I was trying to avoid that scenario (along with accumulating a garage full of FJR’s) but at the rate things are going for me right now…

Thanks for your input, Skooter. Let’s see what the RDL seat on FJR #2 feels like once the adoption is complete…

Don't beat yourself up too much. I bought 2 RDL seats, hated them and sold them. My boney butt isn't shaped right for them.

Interesting. At 6'0" and 175 lbs I would say I am more towards the boney *** side of the spectrum.

I have Heli-Bars which are great. I had an RDL on a Wing that was great. I have a Corbin on my new to me 2013 FJR which I must use an Air Hawk to ride on long trips. I've had Mustangs other brands on many different bikes in 20 years and all are good or bad depending on your physic. Corbin laughed at me on the phone when I called to ask if they could make this seat different and why I slid forward and sat on the tank. The stock Gen 2 FJR seat was the worst seat of any m/c I have ever owned. Why manufacturers rely on their customers to buy aftermarket parts to make their products comfortable and viable is beyond me.

Not at all. I was good with the stock seat for multiple back-to-back 400 mile days, rode at least 60K miles with it. After that I used a Corbin for many miles. Then in 2019 I had my left hips replaced and things changed so I went searching. On my '07 I use a Yammy Comfort seat. It's a lot like the factory seat with about 3/4" of pillow top foam. On my '13 the ergos are a little different so I prefer a Sargent. I guess I'm more of a tractor seat-shaped guy.
