Well, art fans, I'm pleased to share with you the news that I just finished an 18x24 landscape for my sister and sent it to her in Phoenix (oil on canvas). It looked like this:

My current project is a trompe-l'œil of an 1851 .36-cal. "Squareback" Navy Colt. This kind of painting, done on a prepared masonite board, is intended to "trick of the eye," being rendered so realistically that the viewer believes he/she is looking at the actual thing ha ha! Today I finished the drawing, which is the "easy" part. Now comes the application of oil paint to complete the illusion:

For a second I thought you were saying that the second picture was done and looked like a real colt.

I was in awe do to how real it looked..

Then I realized that it was a real one yet.. hehe..

But still in awe of anyone that can paint/draw/dance/ or sing.. All of which I have zero talent... I just lack imagination and talent or I could do it all.

Nice landscape.

Nice, but your talent on loan from the almighty is in humorous creative writing, IMHO, arachnophobe.

The only phobia I suffer from, as far as I know, is fear of responsibility....

JB - I want to hire you; for an oil painting.. Nothing else you pervs.. PM me.

Wow! Those paint by numbers kits have really improved since I was a kid.
Um, nearly EVERYTHING has improved since you were a kid.

Like the ability to take cheap shots at people across the country that you've never met. Never could do that before. Sorry <_<

J.B., good job. The water is really good, I think. Reflection is hard to paint, from what little I understand about painting. I have no artistic talent whatsoever. My painting skills are limited to spraying model cars and bikes.

Yeah, but I've met JB. Now, you on the other hand, I have not. ;)

Besides, you failed to copy-quote the smiley I included in my post. Makes all the difference in the world.

See?

I meant my cheap shot at you, what with your being all old and everything. Even though I'm about 7 months older. . . . . :glare:

I should have said:

Thanks, all, for the nice words. As an amateur I only get paid in compliments, and am shameless at trolling for them. Except it sounds like I netted a sucker potential buyer ha ha. What did you have in mind, dCarver? PM sent. JB

Very nice work. I have always admired landscape artist. Please post the finished art of the colt when you are done. Or even take pictures as you progress. Thanks for sharing.
