Greetings

First, just wanted to greet all of you. I'm new to the forum becuase i'm new to the bike. Just took delivery of an 06 and i have to say that i love it. Previous bike is a Duc MTS DSS1000, a bike i used to love until i rode the FJR. For what it's worth, i read post after post last November when i was thinking about a new bike and appreciate all the good threads and words i found here.

I'm 50, have been riding off and on for 25 years, and am married to one of the great women in the world: she smokes cigars and has a motorcycle license. Can't ask for more.

To my question.

I know that many members swap out at least the rear and often the front suspension. At the moment, I'm not unhappy with what comes on the bike. I'm 6'2" and 185. I ride moderately agressive. Anyone want to shout out their settings (front preload, rebound, compression, etc.) i would really appreciate it.

Cheers to all of you.

Welcome, shutterbug! :D I have an '05 farkled with Wilbers shock and springs. As soon as they become available for the '06's, rob your nest egg of the 1 k or so and make the swap for any premium set. You won't be dissapointed.

Other than that, I'm sure a few 'knowing' '06 owners will be along shortly to suggest a stock set up setting.

camera56,

I felt like my suspension wuz ah little soft for fast hard back road ridin so i set it ah little firmer. I set it up as per Sport Rider magazines suggestions, & felt like it wuz too firm. Here's what i wound up with, it seems to work real well for me, i'm 170lbs, 5'10".

Front Fork

Spring Preload : 3 lines showing, Sport Rider =2 , Standard is 3

Rebound Damping : 8 clicks out from full stiff, Sport Rider =4 , Standard is 12

Compression Damping : 10 clicks out from full stiff, Sport Rider =7, Standard is 12

Rear shock

Spring Preload: Hard Position, Sport Rider = Hard, No Standard

Rebound Damping : 7 clicks out from full stiff , Sport Rider = 3 , Standard is 10

These settings keep me from scraping th pegs on fast turns, & don't beat me up on everyday ridin. They also avoid wallow on hard braking. You'll have to experiment & see what works for you, hopefully this will help you git started. BTW i'm 52 been ridin for 34 years.
