Many years ago, another rider told me he never washes his visor, he showers with it. He went though more then a few visors over the years from Windex and such and never really like waiting for a damp cloth to soften the dead bugs so he could scrub them off. So, he started taking his visor into the shower once a week or whenever the bugs got bad and let it sit by the drain. The constant flow or warm water over the visor removed all the bugs with no effort on his part.

I have been doing this for years. Never had a problem, other then the S.O. giving me a hard time for taking motorcycle gear into the shower with me.

How does everyone else clean his or her visors?

I'm pretty hard on the shields... whatever handy spray cleaner, station window 'fluid', paper towels, hotel face cloths, shop rags - you get the idea. I've tried to baby them, but they still get swirls and scratches, so I've resigned that a new shield is in store at least every other year and screw the babying routine.

But, if I were that concerned: Hand wash (no cloth, just fingers and palms) with mild dish soap and hot water, rinse under hot water until squeaky clean, let drip dry while I find the micro fiber cloth for plastic, then dry. Oh, look! Swirls and scratches! Feck it. <_<

I use Stoners Invisable Glass spray. Cuts through bugs real well and cleans up the shield easily. I use a cloth to wipe off; paper can be abrasive. Used to be a little hard to find but now available at Walmart.

Windex and paper towels work for me, and I am very hard on my helmet, riding in a lot of inclement weather about 40% of the time.

Has worked for 2 years and I figure if I scratch the visor I can just pop another one in.

Water and a soft cloth. I use my drinking water when on the road and always carry soft rags (old T-shirts, etc.), then finish with Plexus spray. I'm @ 18 months+ on the current faceshield with one "ding" from a small rock...no swirls or scratches. I NEVER wipe faceshields or windshields in a circular motion but always side to side or up and down.

Faceshields are an expendable wear-item, like tires. They don't last forever so I plan on replacing them periodically.

+1 after every stop It takes 30 seconds to spray a little water on and wipe it off as easy as that! I have this visor for 1 and a half years (Gold Iridium) the last one laste 6 months proofs in the pudding!

water and a cloth. just let it sit for a few minutes. no chemicals, no abrasion. not sure how this takes longer than showering with one, but whatever turns you on... ( :

Lemon Pledge and a cotton rag. Actually, not always lemon, but whatever Pledge is handy. Shields last me several years and I normally only go through two before I replace the helmet. I also use Pledge on the windscreen.

I just wax mine when they get dirty enough. I usually do my whole helmet at the same time. Had this visor for 7 year, no scratches. At $85 a piece, I have to take care of them.

if I'm at home I take it off and rinse it on both sides first to take off any material and soften the crud then wash with soap and rinse. If I'm on the road, same thing and then use Plexus or Honda Cleaner with a micro-fibre towel.

My wife is an optometrist, so I have a steady supply of 2 ounce squirt bottles of 'lens cleaner' that "will not cloud plastics" (as in glasses lens, not eyeball lens). I carry it in my tank bag, along with a little micro fiber cloth. I'm planning on supplying some to any door prize events I happen to attend this year.

+2 has worked so far.

Mine goes into the shower with me too, often. But this not wearing it, thats a new one. Gotta try that.

Pledge works remarkably well on my Arai, but Pledge (or Windex, one of the two) ruined my anti fog insert on my Nolan. Now it's just a damp cloth to loosen the bugs and an eyeglass cloth to remove any water spots after.
