Where have youy been reading and researching? Custom earmolds approach noise reducing but don't quite do as good of a job. But the upside is that the stereo earphones are in the ear canal so the volume doesn't have to be up near as loud and the sound is outstanding. So all in all the noise is very much reduced. If they didn't reduce sound the musicians would not use them. They must block out alot of noise as they use these for monitors. Thanks for the replies. I'm not interested in the intercom system, just want something to listen to music every once in a while. I was looking at the helmet speakers because I wanted to still use my earplugs. Hadn't heard many good things about the noise cancelling earplugs, but maybe I'll look into the custom molded ones.
I beg to differ. After my experience with the Westones, I would say that many other options will *beat* them.Autocom's are excellent, but nothing beats a set of UM-2 ear-canal headphones from Westone
Hmmmm......while the sound quality is excellent. So is the sound quality form the etymotics earbud speakers. My issue with the custom molded jobbies, is for me, they did not attenuate enough ambient noise. Not near enough. So what good is sound quality when you can't hear it?Air Rider or Ed Sets if you need a mic for transmitting. If you just want to hear, it's hard to beat the sound quality of a pair of custom molded ear monitors.
Don't really mean to criticise but the avitar doesn't have very good protective gear on except the gloves and helmet. You would have to customize a female plug, but the new HJC-Chatterbox headset gets my vote. :clapping:
I may have to try the same thing because the headsets that are included with the Starcom suck. I'm not looking for audiophile quality anything, I just don't want it to sound like the AM transistor radio I had when I was 6. When Michelle is talking to me she sounds like she is speaking from inside a tin can...I dont like any of the stick in ear type that I have seen so what I did was go to Best BUy and get a good set of sony headphone type that are about 2" diameter and I took the dremmel toool and inlayed them inside the helmet. Now it sounds like a freakin concert hall inside my helmet.
Criticism is fine. Reality around here is temps commonly exceed 100F on the bike. Does no good to wear all that protective gear if you pass out and crash from heat exhaustion. Would love to ride safer, IF I could stand the heat.Don't really mean to criticise but the avitar doesn't have very good protective gear on except the gloves and helmet.
