Florida...it's just like Hell, only hotter&#33
Hi all-

After doing a few mods to my FJR and doing a few long distance rides, I'd like to try my hand at an organized rally. I've seen a few mentioned on the board here but I was wondering if there's a list somewhere of the various rallies that are available.

Of course, I know about the big Iron Butt Rally but I'm not ready for anything like that as of yet. I'd like to try a few of the smaller ones and learn from them before putting my name in the hat for the "big one" in 2011 or 2013.

Thanks

There's two or three groups from Florida attending SFOHook up with one of them and ride with us in Eureka Springs

Cheers,

Mike in Nawlins'
Thanks Mike.

That ride sounds like a bunch of fun and I'd most assuredly attend if it weren't for my upcoming surgery. :( It'll keep me off the bike for about 2 months.

Happily I get some paid time off from work and can goof off around the house and SLOWLY add some of the farkles on my bike. :D

Cheers

Edward in Too Damn Hot Florida.

Sounds like you better be clickin' off some miles between now and that surgery!
Good luck.
Thanks. I've been riding a lot more recently. I realized that you never know how much you'll miss riding until you cannot do it for a while. I guess I'll have more time to post for a bit and install the new HID headlamps I ordered.

I also had the wife hide the credit cards...otherwise with all that free time I can certainly see ordering one neat farkle after another. :hyper:

Bummer about the surgery. I hope it's nothing serious and that you can bounce back quickly.

If you're thinking about a first shot at LD rallying, think about the Void 5. That's going to go off on Columbus Day weekend in October, so you'll have plenty of time to recover and get used to riding again. They usually have different starting points scattered around the east which makes organizing your schedule a bit easier (the one closest to you this fall is in Valdosta, GA). And it ends in Lynchburg, VA, so that won't be too hard a ride back home to be at work on Monday.

They'll also run a 10 hour minirally the same weekend that starts and ends in Lynchburg. That's a great way to learn how it all works.

It's a well run rally with funny and experienced rallymasters. It's a rookie friendly rally but it also pulls in some great riders since it's the last big one of the year in this part of country. Their web site is https://rallythevoid.org/, but there's not a whole lot of info up there yet.

There is a good rally for beginners in October, and for experienced riders if you get into any before then. The Void in Lynchburg, VA https://www.rallythevoid.org/ It gives you 3 locations to start from, including Valdosta, GA if you decide to try the 24 hour, or starting and ending in Lynchburg of you want to do the 10 hour.

+1 on the Void. Although I wont be there this year as I have opted to head out west.

Where are you Nova?
