Hello everyone. I am in process of turning my 06 FJR1300A into a police bike for off duty job usage. I had a 2000 BMW RT-P for several years and sold it to a new friend. I was thinking about buying an another BMW police bike, but FJR is way better than any BMW out there. So I started this project to transform my FJR into a Police Bike. I got the lights, siren and crash bar, but I am having a bike design problem. The basic design is black and white theme just like CHP. I know some of you members with photoshop knowledge can help me with nice paint job :D . Please post your best designing skill and make FJR best looking police bike. I am looking for simple and traditional police theme here. Thank you in advance.

Jim. :)

Welcome, And dont take this the wrong way, But dayum! Did the dept. pitch in for the bike? That is quite an expense if it's "out of pocket".

Cool idea though, I am sure the different agencies will catch on when they see how well this bike can do.

Honestly, Im surprised more departments dont use bikes like these. Here in FL most depts. use HD Road Kings

It doesn't sound like it.....b-b-b-b-but crashbar, lights and siren? Oh my!

Why not take the scheme from the BMW and have it painted on the FJR?

A Scottish police bike (thought they'd stopped using these, picture taken May 2005).

Note the built-in helmet rest (actually a blue light on a pole).

Tell ya what; if my good friends serving with the Mass State Police ever start using this bike on the turnpike, which I travel often; those of us who "can't drive 55" are screwed...

If your doing off duty work with it then lights and siren is all you really need. I know several LEO's that do off duty work without having a law enforcement paint scheme on the bike.

Get some Flashing LED's, see if there are some strobes that'll work in the existing lighting, get a headlight oscillator that will wigwam back and forth, wear a white helmet with your uniform and I guarantee traffic will take head.

i noticed they (police application) have a smuggler type box on the tail section (probably for their radio gear) does anybody have a source or part number for it? i would think its oem- pretty heavy duty and weather tight
The tail section has been discussed before on at least 2 other forums (I state this only because I've been around for awhile). IIRC, they are available but at a ridiculously high price. Perhaps teerex would remember as Stef is in 'Yurp and I think he might have been one of those looking into it for us.

Thank you all for replying.

I will be using this bike for movie jobs. In my area, the bike has to be in police color. You just can not bring any bike with lights for the job. I loan out bike to other officers for their job needs. My previous bikes got used as movie prop and security needs. I really like the Sheriff's bike. I will use it as base of my project. I will post the progress for all of you. However, I really like to see a FJR based photoshop pictures.

Thank you all

Jim

This is because Harley has a lease program for cops at $1 per year per bike. This covers just about everything involved with the bike itself IIRC, and the bike goes back to HD when the lease expires.. When Yam does this, cops will ride Yams. Till then.............
