I am trying to remove the panels to get at the cigarette lighter socket leads. . . I have removed the fasteners from panels C & D (the ones that have the headlight adjusters in them) and have already removed the other two panels. I can't seem to get either C or D out.

I really don't want to strongarm them. Am I missing something here?

Look in the owners manual for the order of removal. I usually have to remove the fairing fasteners also. I did have hard time with the center plastic fastener removal. I think that those type are not always easy to pop the center button and release. They fit tight, especially D. Try pulling the side of the fairing out a little to create more room for the D puzzel piece.

hope this helps.

Try looking at this also.

IIRC, there TWO fasteners on the inside of panel D. One toward the front and one aft. Had to shift the handlebars to get to both.

I remember taking one out and wondering "why can't I loosen the damn panel?" Good luck!

Oops....reread your post. You already got D out.

The front panels take a little strong arming and I pulled them out from the bottom side first. Nevermind.....

Thanks everyone & Hart you are correct it just takes more pulling than I was initially ready to do. Got everything out & wired my gps & V1. Also changed the mirrors. Took almost 3 hours with breaks - its almost 90 already in the garage & about 100% humidity, I need a shower!
