I'm having a hell of a time getting the damn inner grommet out of my bars. I've centered and lined up that puller tube multiple times but the bolt always gets pretty damn tight and I don't want to snap it off.

Should that grommet pull easy or do you have to break it free? I have no idea and can use some advice. Thanks in advance.

I did mine 2 weeks ago and it was very easy, I just kept turning on the bolt, but no more than 30 turns like the instructions say. Make sure the tool is centered with the small part on the bar end. My boss "Tilly" did this a while ago and he had the same trouble that you are reporting.

I had to go to the hardware store and get a hex head bolt to replace the allen head that they sent. After that, I was able to get some real power on it and it broke free.

This problem seems to be hit or miss. Mine came out easily, but I recall someone who was stuck posted a while back. He squirted in some WD-40, let soak (overnight?) and it came right out. Make sure you clean up inside afterward.

Well I got it out, thanks for the posts, they helped me out. The problem I was having was that the whole sleeve would turn with the washer and bolt and that would get it off center. So this morning I put another smaller washer on the bolt right before the bigger washer that comes in the kit and I lubricated those washer and the bolt and that kept the sleeve from turning at all so it stayed perfectly centered like it should. Then the inner grommet pulled out smoothly, and you really tell the difference.

Anyway, once the grommets are out it’s a piece of cake to install the Throttlemeister ends. The thing works great and is a pretty simple and sweet design.

Thanks again.

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing, a hex head with a box end wrench or a socket would be much better than that allen head.

I put mine on right after the break in period. Installation was a snap but, I did have a need to fine tune it a few times after riding a while but it's perfect now and I love it.

Keep in mind the "throttlemiester" isn't true cruse control like on a car. I'm in constant need of adjusting it as I drive, you'll see what I mean. I think it has saved me from a few tickets. Never use it in traffic.
