I thought you where heading to sunny climes.
Sunny is optional. I just want warm. Thought for sure I scored in a job in Cambridge (not exactly south but much better than the rock). Didn't get it. Bastards.

BC.. Well, Nepotism runs large.

It's supposed to start warming up on Sunday.
Sorry to hear that. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing the boss's kid will probably screw everything up. It happens all the time.

Just one question for Kamal, is it still raining in Castlegar????
Ha, ha - it would be if it wasn't cold!

This is how it's done. I remember reading the label in the 70's "For those hoary winter nights"
Yup. that works.

You mentioned -51 in MN once. The coldest I've ever been in was -52 in at our camp (cottage) in the early 80's. I was outside trying to help a buddy get his snowmachine going (He pulled it the first time and it was so tight because of the cold it flipped over!). I was outside, maybe 20 minutes when I realized I couldn't see. Walked back up to camp and checked myself in the mirror only to find my eyelids were freezing shut.

2 things: (1) Left for the airport at 5:00 am last Tuesday to go from Idaho Falls to Orlando. 16 Below Zero (f) heading to the airport. 84 degrees that afternoon in Orlando, or exactly ONE HUNDRED DEGREES warmer than when we left.

(2) Yesterday, I was headed back to my office on I-15 just as it was getting dark. The interstate is bone-dry, but we have been below zero every day for at least 2 weeks, highs in the single-digits. Heading south, I cannot believe my eyes when a guy fully geared up on what I think was a V-Strom is heading south on the interstate. It was 9 degrees. What a freakin nut!!!!

The main roads are clear but all side-roads are just a compact layer of pure smooth ice and snow. I guess he was making a run down to vegas or something--he must have heated everything.

Or he was wearing some freshly killed seal skin with mink lining..........

Furnace went tits up yesterday, four hours and a new part no luck.

At Lowes twenty minutes before closing for a wall heater, 13 F last night.

Last. night was in boise and was between 9 and 0 overnight. Now in lake powell and its 39. Walking around without a coat. There may be something about this Arizona thing. Will do some follow up in the next couple weeks.

Yeah there is something about the Arizona thing. AZ is great October through April. From June through September it is so damn hot you will be inside in an a/c environment - many days in a row of 110+ temps. Now the odd thing about this is you are inside in AZ during the longest days of the year. In Washington State we can't ride 2 to 3 months of the year but they are the shortest days of the year.

The southernmost part of the Great White North has been pretty good all winter, -5-7C (20F) at the most overnight, but mostly hanging in around the freezing mark.. All the bit of snow we had melted last week with the Texas warm front. But this week, we hit -19C (2F).

As Charlie Farquharson said, "Cold enough to freeze the knots off a blue spruce".

-10 °F here this morning and windy. Similar overnight temperatures for the last several days and forecast for most of the next week. Daytime highs in the range of +2 to +4 °F. Perhaps not the worst winter in memory but awfully hard to take after the relatively benign winter weather of the past two years. I just hope that it makes up for it with a spectacular spring/summer.

Lots of time for bike maintenance but I haven't managed to get motivated. Need to do a valve check (and probable adjustment), rewire some farkles, get the Penske rear shock serviced and I want to do a complete suspension/pivot point lube and service. Need to rig some sort of skyhook so i can remove the center stand! 85,000 miles on the beast and need to get another 85,000.

MEM = Rain Maker. Worship her.

Yup. It's official. I used to (jokingly) observe that "no ride of mine starts until there's rain". Often, it'll be on the first day - as in this case - and then we're done with it

Hey! It'll be warm rain - unlike some of the s**t I've ridden in. If the 'zonies weren't such *******, we wouldn't even be talking about this ;)

On a temperature note....it was something like -72 at ~35,000 feet yesterday :p

I must live at 30,000 feet!
