I’m new here, but I know how everyone welcomes newcomers in these forums. So thanks for your help and input in advance.
I’m interested in buying a used 16 FJR, but it has 77k miles on it.
Is this something I should steer clear of, or is the FJR motor that good that I shouldn’t worry about it?

I'd ask the price before I decided.  It absolutely could be a great bike.  More info needed from you.  Like what extra goodies does it come with.  If fact, that's about it.  Price and farkles.  Let us know, everybody here has lots of opinions.  All free.

Not enough miles to worry about, but definitely enough to significantly lower the price. Factor in the current transmission recall and you could make a deal on this one. Whats the overall condition? Cared for, or dirty and beat? What's the asking price?

The FJR I am looking at is for sale from a dealer in MI. The pictures all look like the bike is in good shape.  The add does not mention anything about any recalls being done  I have not called on this yet because I wanted some opinions as to if it worth investigating further.  This is the listing as printed with the price.  If/when I call I will ask more detailed questions about the above mentioned suggestions. Curious for more opinions.  Thanks.

Before I saw your quoted price, I was thinking around 7500 for a five year old, high mileage bike.  Maybe a little more if condition warranted it.

Ah yes... I've seen that one on cycletrader posted for MANY months now... https://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2016-Yamaha-FJR1300ES-5013197099

With that kinda mileage, ME personally, i wouldn't buy it for $6k.  it has too many miles that are unknown for ME to take a chance on it.  just about EVERY other used FJR is a better option.  considering the price they are asking... that's ridiculous.  But hey... there's a butt for every seat.... maybe that one is yours!

All bikes look good in pictures.  That puppy is way overpriced.  Find an individual with some history on the bike.  The second gear recall if not done would have me at less than $5K and I'm sure they would tell me to leave.  Sure proud I didn't have to have a sixth gear.

Glad for all the reply’s and help.  That dealer is about 3hrs from me, so I would call before going and ask the questions you have given me before going to look.

I like BigOgre’s comment/question. Waiting on any reply to that.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, way too much money for that '16. Pricing, agree with the rest of the gang!

Ask questions, but it's likely not worth a three hour drive unless the dealer is willing to talk real turkey. Too many other FJRs out there. Be patient, the right one will show up.

Don't know about the legal issue but the recall bulletin states "You must modify all affected motorcycles in your inventory".  I would think that covers the 2016,

also.

Doesn't really matter if the dealer does it or not.   If they don't,  it can be done any time. If the dealer does it,  the bike will be more sellable.  At the very least, the dealer would have to disclose that there is an incomplete safety recall.

Edit: As others have said, it is overpriced for what it is.  Assuming very good condition, I would be looking at somewhere around $6500 to $7000 or so.  Extras that I can see are the front and rear crash guards, highway pegs and some sort of fork-mounted lights.  Stock seat and windshield (I think).

Looks like this high mileage bike has sold after all.  CRAZY!

And, the transmission and brake switch recall have NOT been done on the bike.  guess a bike with that high of mileage..... good idea to bring her on in.
