And the discussion, planning cuaucs at WFO resulted in ..............? :innocent:

I , after discusssion, , have decided to move this ride back to a springtime ride, as it was on the first Yosemite ride. The park is awesome in the spring with the snow still around, ice on the lakes, meadows vibrant green, and the waterfalls booming !! :yahoo: The fall ride has the falls dwindling and still a lot of car traffic.

I propose the date wil be " floating " dependent upon Caltrans opening 120 / Tioga Pass. When the pass opens, then the next weekend we schedule for an overnight trip. This run will be close in timing to Madmike's Open Passes yearly run. Usually 120 opens within 2 or 3 weeks of the openings of 108 & 4, so we may have two great runs pretty close to one another. :D Since one is a day run and the other an overnighter, it should work out fine.

So, that said, ya'll better get the electric gear ready and breakout the thermal gear, 'cause you know it'll be cold on top and on the backside of the Sierras !

No Hwy 36 fall romp either? :(

No Hwy 36 fall romp either?

Well, if the romper room is closed I may have to take a day run to Yosemitie this weekend. Just for the heck of it, or maby after Laborday would be better. I'll see how it goes. I made a quick run to Oceanside and back on Sat and Sun. What a waste of rubber and fuel I-5 is. I also got caught in the 138 fire/traffic lot. Two hours of lane splitting was not a great deal of fun. Need something a bit different now.

I agree that Spring is a much better time, but I'm always stuck training people that time of year and can't get away, even for a weekend. I propose a fall Yosemite ride on 9/16 or 9/23 for those of us who can make it up/down to Yosemite. Should I start a new thread ?

on the springtime Yo-Yo-Yosemite ride. How 'bout tentatively the weekend after Memorial Day, if Tioga Pass is open?

I need to search for a hotel with a flat parking lot, or some training wheels.

Hey, maybe we could camp near the Base Camp Cafe. We might be able to swing a discount on dinner, or even better, beer!

TWN, Tinker,,,,,,,Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks. ;)

BB.. you should probally start a new thread if you want to put a fall Yosemite ride together. It'll be easier to track responses that way.

TC,,,,, The day will need to float as it depends on Caltrans... sometimes 120 doesn't open till July depending on snowpack. We'll definately try to work in Base Line if we stage in Mammoth. :D

No commet on the parking lot

I'm not big on planning. I'll just go alone this week Monday 8/21 to 8/25. I really only want to ride Tioga Pass so it will be 0600 start in Cameron Park to MET to 88 to 89 to 395 up and over Tioga pass and then turn around and go home the same way I came. If someone is interested PM me.

And I'm done hijacking this thread and will wait 6-8 months for a spring ride. :D
