I'm coming from Houston. I'll be taking I10 to Luling and then the back roads through San Marcos, past Canyon Lake, through Kendalia, Comfort, and then into Kerrville. I may go a little further north nearer Fredericksburg through Luckenbach and stop by the Old Railroad Tunnel to check out the bats--haven't done that in a while. I plan on arriving in Kerrville 5:00 to 6:00 and will call Mike on his cell phone after I check in to the Econo Lodge to discuss the when/where for dinner--there is a good Mexican food restaurant on Hwy 16 just down from the hotel. I'll have your cell number as well.

Can't wait to hit the road--been looking forward to this since you started this thread.

Well, I'm in buda, just north of San Marcos. I could hook up with you in San Marcos or Wimberley if you go that route (good way to get to Luckenbach).

My schedule tomorrow is pretty much open. I might change the oil in the morning. You could even come via Buda and check out me shop if interested.

The Hill-Country is hardly Flat-land.

Texas does have mountains.

Hillbillies are everywhere. But, most Texas hillbillies are in the pines and swamps of east texas.

We've got plenty of Rednecks and Roughnecks, especially in the plains and on the substantial coastline.

I prefer the term Good Ole Boy. But have been called redneck, hillbilly and even yuppie a few times.

I guess my point: We've got a little of everything in Texas and lot of most things

It was a great weekend for riding and taking pictures.

Did over 1,272 miles this time.

Had fun and the weather was absolutely nice. Low of 55 degrees Saturday morning when we rode out to the OST in Bandera.

That rock dome was awesome and the roads leading to it. Cooper's BBQ in Llano was tasty.

There was not a dull moment riding the Hill Country for me this time.

It was good to see and ride with Barry, Greg, Mike and Sander.

Hope to do it again soon before it gets too cold. I do not have any electrically heated clothing yet. Maybe that will be next for me.

I had great time as well. Although I didn't log 1200 miles

I wish I would have road a little longer with you guys on Saturday. But, I got back in time to see a little of the game and make the mandatory dinner with the N'Laws.

I think the Rock Dome Scott refers to is Enchanted Rock . While they were riding out there Friday, Barry and I were coming in from Wimberly, where we met up. He had already come from Houston. We stopped in Luckenbach and at the Old Tunnel Wildlife Area before heading into Kerrville. Thanks to Barry for showing me the Old Tunnel.

Saturday morning, Sander met up with us at the OST and rode for while. I think he left around Camp Wood and I left around Rock Springs. That was pretty far west of Austin. My *** was swollen and my hands were numb when I got home.

Overall, A good time and great bunch of guys. (Mike, I think I owe you some money)

It was a great trip.

I nearly collected a turkey on the ride back into Kerrville on Saturday evening. :assasin:

When can we go again?

I took my ticking bike into the dealer Tuesday evening and they agreed it is not normal and are calling Yamaha to see how to proceed. They had not heard one tick yet but then they only sold six FJR's in the last year.

Some of us who didn't make it last Sat are meeting at the OST, 8:30 ish, this Sat the 22nd for b'fast and maybe a short ride. I have major job ahead this weekend putting the FJR back together. Decided not to replace any bearings, just lube the heck out of things, torque it down, replace the center stand bolts to make job easier next time, and get on with life!

What I could not remember while talking with you and Barry at supper at the Cracker Barrel was that the Canadian Yamaha website listed that the '06 FJRs will have self cancelling turn signals.

Do not remember if our '06 FJRs will have them.

Have you heard if they will?

Great ridin' and hangin' with you guys this past weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't take too many pictures--too busy soaking up the great roads. Without a doubt, the best riding in Texas--wish it wasn't so darn far from Houston! The weather was nice in the morning, but could have been a little cooler in the afternoon. All in all, though, a fine time.

Let's do it again.

No, I didn't see any animals (except for all of the dead ones in the road). I did see a sign for an exotic animal ranch, but can't remember if this was on 335. Good thing I wasn't distracted from riding the twisties or I might have ended up like that Honda CBR600 rider that crashed!
