I'm located in Hilton Head SC and looking for a more scenic route to the dragon vs riding the interstate. Any help would be appreciated incliding hotels.

Last fall, moving from Charleston to Greenville with the truck and camper, we ended up using Hwy 178. Basically paralleled I26 to the south. Except for the C17 dropping paratroopers I'm not sure that the route was more scenic but it was certainly more pleasant.
If time is of ANY concern I'd likely just hit the slab and get to SC Hwy 11. Anything north of SC11 toward Deals gap is GOOD. Simple example: I26 to SC11 to 178 to 64 to Franklin. From Franklin 28 or Wayah to 129.

11 to 64 yo 28 is really nice or from Walhalla you can take 28 the whole way. Don't know about hotels though, we usually camp. when are you headed up?

A friend and I are taking trip in August. Plan to go north on Sunday and ride Monday. Hopefully less traffic during the week.

Smart choice on the weekday. We usually are stuck with weekend rides and the traffic. Have a safe trip!
