Howdy,

I hit some shit on the road and cracked the oil pan case on my 2005 FJR. It actually hit where the drain plug is and resulted in a crack. Does anyone have first hand knowledge with pulling the oil pan? It looks like it is a separate piece from the rest of the motor. What is required to do this R&R. Do I need to pull the motor out of the bike? Or can I just pull pipes off and drop the pan? Many ????????'s Looking for many Ansewrs. All help appreciated.

The pan is one piece but you will most likely need a new gasket for re-installation. Also I'm pretty sure all you have to do is to remove your exhaust pipes. I stripped the oil drain plug threads on mine awhile back and had the dealer replace the whole pan. Good luck, some good things about aluminum being light weight, but some bad things too as it is not as rugged as steel. Right now my bike is in getting the radiator repaired. Sucks being without a bike.
