As I said...not sure where to start. Any advise would be appreciated! :yahoo:
Dont' forget about Vegas.... then I-15 to St George, Hurricane, If you go north to Ut 9, you can ride thru Zion then hit Kanab, (US 89),

or take UT 59 south from Hurricane to Az 389 fo Fredonia, then Alt 89 to the Grand Canyon Hiway. that starts at Jacob Lake. (Az 67)

Kabib Lodge is a bit before you hit the North entrance to the Grand Canyon. It's a pretty cool place to stay, but you'd need to call now and reserve a place.. They have cottages, more like duplexes, top and bottom. Rather nice, not fancy, and a pretty good restarant. Great folks BTW. Gravel driveway, of course.

The Grand Canyon Lodge is rigtht on the rime, but a bit too touristy (read expensive) for me to want to stay there. Nice restarant there also. And great views from the North rim!

Zion can take a whole week by itself, just to drive thru on Ut 9 took my son and myself 2 1/2 hours in a cage, and we didnt' have time to stop at all, let alone do the bus trip... I gotta go back for that.

If you're passing anywhere near Williams, (You can take Az 89 down to I 40, then hang a right at Flagstaff) Williams is the next town down the road. Take the train from Williams to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. they have different cars and coaches. My son (he's 22) throughly enjoyed that.

Next stop down the road is Seligman, a nice throwback Rt 66 town. We stayed at KOA's mostly, but whereever you stay, ask where the best places to eat are.

If you plan on motelling, go to your local Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn (the new ones have the softest beds!) or whatever suits your fancy, and sign up for their customer card or whatever they call it. You can put your info in, and just call ahead for a room as you're traveling. You just give them your card number and they have all you info, plus you get points or whatever you sigh up for.

I found rooms most everywhere were pretty booked up by 3pm... so I'd just pick where I wanted to stop for the night and call, usually around noon or 1.. I'd also tell them if I was going to be late. A GPS also is great, I hope you have a better sense of direction than I do! <G>

If you have MSFT Street and Trips this would make a lot more sense. I love riding or even driving in Utah!

Ok, I'll stop! <G>

Oh, if you're going into any of the Federal parks, like the GC...get ONE of those National Park passes.... it's good for a couple of peeps....

Some links.... All these links have other pretty cool links, too...

You do have to call... Interestingly, there's no water there... all water has to be trucked in. But they do have hot showers in the cabins. We stayed in the Eastview units, havn't seen the others.

When we rode up is was dusk, part of the forest had burned a few years before. It was so awesome to be riding thu the burnt out and regrowing forest with the sky growing darker and darker and the moon getting brighter as we rode.

If you like spending lots and dont' mind all the old people...then...

We just saw a sign and ssid...Why not! It was fun and relaxing. I opted for the Budd car.. That seemed to be the best value for us.

The restarant across the street for the RoadKill Cafe is much better... dont' know about motels, we stayed in a Kamping Kabin at the KOA. All you need for the KOA Kabins is a sleeping bag.

The ride on old Rt 66 from Kingman to Oatman on Az 10 is not a ride you'll forget! WAY COOL! Oh, there's some cool stuff in Oatman, too.

Also.... National Parks Info...

Now I really quit!

Have fun...

Even mind-blowing scenery can get pretty "same-old," so figure out where you know people who you can visit. Do a few days on your own, stopping wherever, then throw in a visit, and repeat.

Sounds like a great time!
