Took my first 6 hour ride on my 07... after a couple of hours I noticed lots of heat coming out of the fairing by my thighs. On hour 6 as I exited the highway my thermostat (which is normally right in the middle) raised up a couple of bars. Any thoughts?

O.K. FNG I am, can someone move my post to "technical problems" and not "technical discussions"?

This thread is worthless without pics!!!

Wait, I didn't mean that!!! REALLY, PLEASE, don't show your legs. Think I'm going to be sick now.

Thoughts??? Yes, be damn glad you didn't buy an 05. My nuts roasting by the open fairing...

Sounds like you should investigate the PCIII. This will help the bike run much cooler. FJR too lean = FJR too hot. (Common prob.)

What are you wearing....surfing shorts? blue jeans? MC specific riding pants? Leather?

I have noticed the leg heat in 2 different M.C. pants... and it is specific to the thigh area. I have put my hand in the area to confirm.

O.K. I am an FNG - what is the PCIII?

Do you have the asjustable wings near the sides of the tank in or out? In one position the wings will let out more heat than the other. Don't ask me which is which, actually the subject of some debate, I always ride with mine in.

It's called a power commander and it's a device used to remap your stock fuel setup. The new map will richen the fuel mix and give your engine a smoother feel to it.

typically costs between $260 & $330.Shop around for the best price.

It is commonly disscussed here on this forum by folks looking to get the surge feeling out of their throttle.

This along with a throttle body sync commonly referred to as aTBS and taking up the excess slack in your throttle cables improves the whole surging experience.

Hope this helps

I have them how they were delivered stock... I'll chech them - thanks for the response!

If your "wings" are in, and you are getting heat on your thighs...either your bike is missing something or you have nerve damage. Riding in 99 degree temps with mesh pants..the only part of my leg that got hot was the area around my ankle. If you are sitting at a traffic light for awhile I can see the heat rising up some, but only the Sun was heating my thighs...

Perhaps they forgot to install some insulation on your bike , or your engine is on fire....

You might not want to do that in public....

Try to determine where the heat is coming from, instead of telling us which part of you is hot (oh, that don't sound right either!!!)

FWIW my tank (06) gets real hot in the summer and I feel it on my thighs. Other than that the lower left peg is the other hot spot. Wear high boots.

Goog thing you don't have the 03-05 model. Try riding with the vents out and see if its better, remember with them in the out position, the irect air flow from the engine compartment out away from you.

I'm thinking pumpkin adjusted the wings and is out riding ;)
