Anyone know of a decent place to stay overnight in Eureka NV. or Ely NV. heading out SR50 east bound? I think Eureka has only one place and thats the Best Western Inn but not sure if its good or not. Not interested in staying in a smokey casino but would if the rooms are not smokey as I will have to over-night to WFO and back. Also any bed & breakfasts. Thanks ahead of time, PM. <>< :D

Not necessarily on the high end of things, but various LD riders have been known to hang out at the 7777 (or Four Sevens) in Ely. It's two blocks off main street, a motel, and cheap. A few restaurants in walking distance. I didn't detect any smoke in my room.

Today begins a Blackbird meet in Ely that Warchild set up. IIRC, they're at the Hotel Nevada in Ely. Haven't been there, but if the XX group doesn't burn it down, I suspect it should be suitable.

I stayed in Eureka a year or so ago. There is the Best Western and another hotel across the street and about a 1/4 mile east. It was much cheaper but not as nice. Don't remember the name. Restaurant across the street.

There is the epitome of travel accommodations called a Motel 6 on the hill just outside of town. Not a bad location with several fast food joints across the street. In 06 there was a Chinese and Mexican restaurants two long blocks back toward the main part of town. Have stayed there several times on various trips in and through Nevada.

In Ely, the Four Sevens isn't a bad spot, yep, a popular place for bikers. Not fancy mind you

In Eureka, my simple favorite for many years is the Sundown. Owned by "Marge" ...the hardest working person I've ever met. Simple, good enough, right in the middle of that megatropolis. Marge also owns the Chevron station next door.

Ahhh, thanks John, thats the place. I was getting fuel at the Chevron and ridding partner walks out of the office with a grin, I ride up, I think he said somethin like $39.99. Worked out fine.

remember...as you are going through Ely, you have to turn right to stay on 50. If you go straight, the road bends and goes to Wendover. If you don't realize you made the mistake and ignore road signs, you end up in Wendover and might find there are no rooms there...so you go back to Ely and find there are no rooms there so you make the right turn and think about staying at the hotel near the border and they won't have rooms and then you'll sleep on your bike.

Oh wait...this was me on Memorial weekend. Nevermind...but turn right to stay on 50 unless you want to go to Wendover and take 80 across.

The turn in question

John and GotPackage, great info here. That's the price I like, better than the Best Western's $85.00 in Eureka. And Andrew, you practicin up for the LDR Iron Butt game? Thanks again boys and the bike is almost ready to go, yoo who!! PM. <>< :yahoo:

I was just going to start a post asking for the same info so thank you all for the very timely replies. I too am planning on staying in Ely Wednesday night unless the weather is cooler then expected and I feel like riding alot further. The 4 Sevens looks good. I am trying to decide on a reservation or not. I like to stay as flexible as possible. Do any of you have a fix on whether I need a reservation in the middle of the week?

Do any of you Bay Area riders want to make an early start Wednesday? I am thinking about hitting the road around 3:30 AM from San Ramon and getting to Ely around noon so I can be off the bike and by the pool with an icy cold one when the heat is at its worst. I think this can be done riding at the speed limit...plus about 20 to 25MPH :p

I am going to go search an old post from about a month ago. I believe Ignacio mentioned a decent steak house in Ely. Maybe we can have a pre WFO dinner Wednesday night. Post up or PM me if interested in meeting up or swapping cell numbers.

Yikes. An early start sounds good, but to me that is functionally still Tuesday.

Anyone know the going rate for a good Nevada prostitute?
