Leaving Houston area tomorrow (Wednesday) for northeastern Ohio. This is a "get from here to there" mission to arrive Thursday, and'll need to overnight after a 600/700 mile leg, so the super slab it is, mostly (but had a wonderful time riding county roads through the Texas hill country yesterday. Lots of smiles and little more time!).

The trip so far

Google suggests routing through perhaps Nashville. Wonder if you folks had any different suggestions on routing? Things to avoid? Locales and favorite motels?
Thanks!

Joe, he has a family wedding but will be around here this weekend starting Thursday. Maybe we can find something to do.

I just noticed his spot has him in Houston today. Sounds refreshing! I suggested the Natches Trace Pkwy with possible deviations to Tellico Plains then Cherohala Skyway (143) towards Tapoco (US 129) and Magee Valley as he gets farther north. For him to be in Zelianople, PA by Thursday, he won't be able to dawdle up the BRP. I could see riding down to Smoke Hole, or just hanging out on the Catamaran on Pymatuning. No plans yet. Got some ideas?

Where in NE Ohio?
Columbian, OH, with cousins. Not too far from Zelienople.

As Tom mentioned, most of my "fun touring" will have to wait until after the wedding. This leg is just to get there. :)

Staying over a day here in Houston with relatives, and leave in the morning for the jaunt to Ohio.

Tom,

I was planning on going to the annual John Ryan RTE at the Diamond Deli on Saturday, also I just made an appointment to take my car in for service Saturday morning. Thursday's weather looks sketchy...Friday looks a little better.

Looks like Sam is going to get into Columbiana late Thursday, and hang out with relatives Friday, and do the Wedding on Saturday. So probably Sunday-Monday for a ride or other things. I'm hoping to encourage his return trip via the U.P of Michigan or if he as a passport, the north shore of Superior. After riding the South, he should be ready.

If I behave myself at the wedding, Sunday could work, otherwise Monday sometime. :)

Didn't think to bring my passport, but the UP sounds enticing, especially after the South! ;)

Cheers!

Just make sure you get yer Yooper Pastie...if you go up nort by dat way.

(Seems even its maker can't come to touch it bare-handed)

Are some better than others?

Ahh ha! There your are Sam. I have no idea where you were today in Texas but I liked your spot route getting there. Do the UP if you can, Corwine routed me up there once-good stuff plus a stop in Gay and Copper Harbor is good for the bucket list.

When you get back I'll buy you a Cornish Pastie here in town and you can tell me which is better. Bet your having a blast, I just hope the 15 can handle all those miles
