People have put a negative on 2 of the posts you have placed on the board. I have wondered the same thing about myself, but I know some members here and I do not agree on some things.

Oh, that's fine. I was just wondering how I ended up with some negatives. No problem, its your forum, I enjoy reading it and making friends. I'll have to look back and see what I said that was negative.

This post is the perfect example of what I don't get. I gave you a positive response for you reputation for asking what I thought was a good question. Then someone hoped in and gave me a negative response on my post, but didn't bother to post ANYTHING, or say a single word. Just noted my response as negative, and contributed NOTHING. Nice.

Well, thank you for your kind gesture. Honestly, I would be leaving everyone a + because there have been so many very nice people that may have written a line or thirty and sent me a PM with even more information.

I can see how an immature or childish person could constantly give someone negatives.

I always remember this tough internet guy when there's an internet bully on the internet. LOL! )

I'm at -9, lol. I wouldn't sweat it too much, tis the nature of the 'net, so to speak. People are bound to get sensitive about their own opinions versus your own and then show their displeasure with yours by simply clicking a button. Guess it might matter if this were eBay and you were wondering about the seller...but it ain't. :D

Put my daily "positive" on you...at the moment, you're at zero.

Some forums call this Karma. It will be interesting to watch how it works on this site.

I wonder if the admins have a way to track WHO is giving responses?

It's pretty easy to get one's "jollies" by indiscriminate use or "-" to exercise a personal dislike for anyone. And what does that mean, anyway? I'm sure there are those who would dislike anything most people post but why not just move on to the next thread? What is so necessary about a private "no" vote? This sounds to me more like the "thumbs down" sign at the Roman Coliseum than anything particularly substantial in meaning.

Personally, if I have trouble understanding what a member is trying to say, I will simply send them a PM asking for clarification. I know, what a weird way of interpersonal understanding: conversation!?!?!?

There have been some posts that I felt were egrigious and more than one that were in deep violation of forum guidelines. One, in particular, was a several paragraph religious rant (His means of delivery and judgement of members was offensive to me and I'm a believer. Totally unnecessary!) that I sent the link to an admin and it was dealt with. I guess I don't understand the rating by individual members when there are other means at ones disposition.

This is just one member's opinion. YMMV.

Isn't this just like the "stars" rating system we used to have in effect here? It was here right? I remember at one point I had 5 stars and then only one. They always bounced all around but never once did I get a raise at work, and extra hug from my wife, or give a flying monkey's *** what my rating was.

I think you are taking it a little to personally Tim...Who cares?? I still like you, and that's all that matters.

There is also a maximum number of negative responses you can put on in a day, or I would give you a positive for you last comment Barb. I will put it on my to do list.
Yeah, I'm going to keep checking back here.

I also gave positives until I used up my quota. After midnight and they haven't "renewed/reset". Maybe it's a 24 hour period.

I'll be bach!

Yeah, 'zilla, but it'll be fun to skew the numbers and see if it's noted that a certain thread is garnering attention.

:)

I wasn't even aware that feature was enabled here until I saw this thread. Another forum I frequent used it for some time and ended up removing it. Seemed it served no purpose other than causing conflict.

Thanks Burnspot! I did the same thing, but have met my quota again!!! Ha ha.

Thanks for the information. I've learned something new.

I agree with the gentleman that communication is usually a better way to deal with disagreements, but what do I know?

This is a great site and the people here were so helpful and just observing the conversations about our motorcycles was very informative! I appreciate the folks here being tolerant of the FNG and sharing so much with me.
