I would gladly check my owners manual for this, but I can't get to it!!

So I just picked up my new 2010 this weekend. Thought the owners manual was in the saddlebag, turns out those were the blank plugs and instructions for the saddle bags only. Called the dealer and they said the owners manual should be under the seat.

OK, found the lock for the seat, when used it releases the passenger seat, not the drivers seat?? It clearly releases the latch holding on the passenger seat, but I don't see, hear, or feel anything release for the drivers seat. I looked for a second seat lock and tried turning the key the other way but nothing. I tried pulling on the seat with some force but decided not to break anything.

The only owners manual I can find online appears to be for a gen I and it specifically says the driver seat is realeased by the lock and you can then remove the passenger seat.

What gives? What am I missing or is there a particular way I should be tugging or pulling on the drivers seat to release it?

In the center directly at the back of the drivers seat is a support. To the left of it is an opening with a lever inside. Slide the lever to the left. You should hear a click and the drivers seat should pop up slightly at the back. then lift off.

Man, I'm glad I have a Gen I...those new fangled seats would throw me for a loop.

Congrats, you have two assists right off the bat.

Power to the SUPERNoob! :clapping:

BTW, don't worry about asking questions around here...that's what the Forum is for. :clapping:

Thank you very much guys, I knew I had to be missing something. Now I can do some reading tonight and some setup as well.

WheatonFJR, thank you for the sentiment. I'm not shy at all, I just made fun of myself because...well let's face it, that was a super noob question. lol

So ya know how to raise it on the centerstand yet???? :p
Super freaky the first time. You just KNOW in your head that the bike is going to go over on it's side... It doesn't though.. Just make sure to keep your kickstand down while you do it. That way if it does start to go over the wrong side, all you have to do is snatch it back towards you and it is safe. Not that this sort of thing has happened to me ever before... :)

Nope haven't tried the center stand yet, thanks for the tips. Sounds like something to scare myself with tonight :) Got some frame sliders to install too.

This might be my favorite new-guy-asks-a-question post ever. Any time someone goes on a forum and starts asking everyone what special way they should tug or pull something, it's a good one.

Got some frame sliders to install too.
A real good 1st farkle :) .. here's wishing you never need their use.
I'll second that.

Don't let the old and ugly destroy your new found joy!

Ask away, preferably on days Monday - Thursday...

Other possible answers:

You haven't sent me your $100 club dues yet, so I haven't released the electronic code for your seat latch.

Turn the bike upside down and shake it till the seat falls off.

Tell your wife you left something of hers under there.

Tell your wife you left something of your girl friend's under there.

BustaNut & a few others are experts about seats of all sorts and should be chiming in any time now...

Actually it was my second farkle. lol, I am very familiar with the mod bug. Already installed the grip puppies which I have been very happy with. I have big hands and need some larger grips. By the way FAIL on the frame sliders last night, didn't realize I needed allen sockets...

Funny thing is before I even bought and had the bike, I already ordered 3 farkles. Grip puppies, frame sliders, and rifle windscreen. Next up, some kind of cruise control or grip lock solution. I'm suprisingly pleased with the stock exhaust so we shall see if I mess with that.
