How do you save and download a Youtube video?

I swear there was a post on here about a super easy way to download and save a youtube or other video off the internet. I am teaching a class at the Firestation and would like to add a few clips off of there. There is some way that you just insert like 3 letters after the www. and before the Youtube and it takes you to some page and you click on how you want to save it and where. I am trying to think of the forums I have been on lately and for some reason I thought it was here. Any help?

I have seen that but there is even a fast one. Also that video is in another language but you can kinda get the idea...

If you are using a Mac I use CosmoPod. It installs as a button on the Safari tool bar , just click it and in downloads and converts to most formats
