I am new here have been reading about seats for sometime I have a 2007 fjr and have ridden 14k on it with stock seat.as many as 800mi a day. at times seat bothers me others not. Think about a new seat all the time but hard to justify that much money, but if i do will be custom seat from riche's seats in seattle.had a chance to sit in one and was heaven to me.

Seat comparisons mean nothing from one person to the next.
one man's Barco-lounger is another man's torture rack.
I agree! I'm 66, weigh 200#, have two artificial hips and find the stock seat fine. Not bragging, just how it is for me. I only bought aftermarket seats when "she who must be obeyed" still rode with me. Ian, Iowa

I tried the sargent seat. Worked fine on short rides. When I made a 1900 mile ride in five days it didn't work for me. Sent it back. I took the cover partially off the stock seat, sliding from front to nearly off the back. Lifted up the foam and added a small section of very dense packing foam from a farkle order about one half inch thick. I placed it on the front edge and went about six inches toward the rear. Laid the seat foam back down and recovered. This stops the sliding to the front when slowing or stopping. Seemed to help a lot for me. Have not gone on a long ride yet but sure feels better than stock. The stock setup was only comfortable for about thirty minutes to me. Of course I'm a old timer with a skinny rearend.

At 6'3", 190 lbs w/ a 35" inseam, the stock seat has been great for me so far. I'm figuring I'll have my farkle wish list ready for NAFO so I can see farkles in action and make my decisions there. :)

I'm also 6'3" and 190lbs with a 35" inseam like Jeff. The stock seat killed my arse after any ride over an hour. I jumped on the Russell group buy and have

been very happy with the new seat. In fact I've completed a SS1K since. I only noticed my butt being uncomfortable for one short 30 min period about 3

hrs into the ride. Then it went away and I forgot about it until I replayed the ride in my mind the next day. My butt felt so good after 18 hours I could have

gone on and done a BBG...and I wanted to...but being my first IBA ride...it's not recognized.

The stock seat on my '03 was a royal pain in the a$$ the first few months. I tried everything I could think of; beaded seat, sheepskin and even a modified gel bicycle seat that first season but I couldn't find relief. I was beginning to regret my FJR purchase when I read H. Marc's write up with pics of his visit to Rich's. The next spring I made the appt., got the custom done and five years later it's still the best money I've ever spent.
