I've been waiting and waiting, but guess it ain't comin'...

...the "I don't want no damn computer controlling my brakes for me" reply.

I hope it comes soon, 'cause I got a great use for it. :)

Okay...you asked for it. :p

Yes, I asked for it. So, there must be a story attached to that. Can't leave me guessing. :D

I took a ride on New Years Day in CT and there was lots of sand on the roads at that time but the temps were in the mid 50's and sunny so I took a long ride. Almost at the end of my ride, close to home I was going down a steep hill and had to stop at a traffic light when I felt my rear brake pedal pulsating. It was my ABS, there was sand that I didn't see on the road. would I have crashed, I don't know, all I know is I'm glade to have it. My MSF instructor friend who said he didn't need it on his 2002 Goldwing locked up his brakes and his girlfriend broke her wrist. I think he has paid a high price over the 1K he said he saved getting the non-ABS Wing.

Honest, there really isn't a story. I was simply expecting a train of thought from the resident Luddites to parallel the anti-technology feelings voiced in the various '06 auto-clutch threads.

And I was ready. Wish I had a story. :)

Ghost Dog, did you check out the BMW R1200GS Adventure (with ABS)? This really sounds like what your are looking for and can be had for what the FJR lists for if you shop carefully. From your statement above, it appears this would be the most logical choice for you over the FJR or the U bike. Happy shopping.
The local BMW dealer (Raleigh) is having an open house/demo rides a week from this Saturday. I plan on testing out the R1200GS. It is a stretch of my budget but they have leftover '05s for $15,600 (I presume OTD - out-the-door).

radio howie: that is an awesome pic you posted for geezer. I hope nothing like that ever happens

I would not trade my a b s brakes for manual they have saved my tail several times.
