Was up in the brp last week 96 not too much fun even with the great roads. looked like 95 percent of the riders had tee shirts on .

I've ridden my GenI with no heat mods with no problem at over 115 degree through Nevada.

0% humidity helps and hydration + salt + potassium makes it easy.

95 with the high humidity, 90%, as of late, make it too hot in the northern climes. We ain't used to that **** :(

Hows aboot we do a to cold, fer all you left coast and southern riders :) say like November, if I remember to bring it up.

:jester:

So far I haven' found a temp that I won't ride in. It's a tad uncomfortable once it's over 100f with the Ga humidity, but I'll still ride. Only part that really sucks are the high temps and being stuck in traffic. At that point tough, even AC'd cages suck.

Rode from North Carolina back to Texas on Friday and Saturday. Temps were high, 100 to 103 the whole way. Drank plenty of water, used the wet shirt under mesh, and made it OK.

Rode the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway on Friday. What roads! If you're ever in the vicinity, be sure to include both of these in your route. Worth it.

:clapping:

BTW, US129 on the TN side was crawling with LEOs. I wasn't cranking the road anyway, but still didn't welcome the attention.

During lunch I went to my local credit union. On the way I passed one of those digital billboards that posts current time and temp............among other things.

Here in Jackson, MS at 12:20 the sign posted a temp of 101. I suspect before days end we may exceed 105 today.

I do not ride in temps over 95. During this time, pleasure rides early in the weekend mornings is about all that is still pleasurable. Humidity here in south MS is unbearable. I have a Bike trip planned for Aug 24-27 in North Ark and South Mo. I'm hopeing there is a break in this heat pattern by/before then. :glare:

I was riding yesterday in Plano, TX (just north of Dallas) in 104 degree temps (the thermometer on my '07 was reading 108 but it usually runs high). At least it's been relatively dry with humidity in the mid to low 30% range. I can deal with dry heat, it's the humidity that sucks.

The heat don't bother me........it's the ******* ice.....and whoever just had a thread going on with pics of a feej on snow........you got balls, dude.

I found out today how hot is too hot. The ambient temp was 106. When I started up the FJR the thermometer showed 115. It had been sitting in the sun all day. I wanted to take a "detour" on my way home from work as I often do. After about half a mile my groin and guts felt HOT! That's to be expected, so I continued on as the FJR and myself really like to stretch our legs some after a day at work. About a mile later I was in searing pain.

I Dashed directly for home with my butt slid back as far as it would go with arms straight out to reach the grips in order to not touch the tank at any point. It must have been a funny sight. While changing clothes it became apparent I had actually sustained a burn injury!

I love that big gas tank. It's so pretty and it gives a great feeling of confidence out exploring in the middle of nowhere. But it gets seriously hot when you leave it parked in the sun all day at 100+ temps! I know this is obvious and I should have known better but the FJR is my first experience with a gas tank that is so...shall we say...intimate with my lower part of my body.

I haven't found a temp that stops me from riding thus far (to date, 118 degrees F is the highest and 22 degrees F the lowest I've ridden in).

What's the highest I can comfortably ride in? Depends on the humidity. In the desert, 90-95 is quite tolerable at speed (I grew up there so maybe I'm used to it?) However, going through Missouri last week with the temps between 97-100 and humidity in the high 80s, I thought I was going to lose my mind! You Florida folks that ride in the summertime have my sympathy.

So far heat has not been a problem. Have found that I can't take the cold like I used to (have ridden on snow & ice at times). Usually take the cage when the temp is lower than 25.

I commute to work on the bike regardless of temperature. So far this summer many days over 100. Not a problem as long as the bike's moving. Stop lights suck in the heat, but they suck anyway.

I don't do pleasure rides when I know temps are going to be in the 90s though if something's already been set up I go. Today's an example. I'll be on the bike for a while, temps in the 90s, but I'm doin it dammit.

Same here, anything above 92 is not fun. I have done it, but you’ll get scorched pretty well. Sun + tarmac + other car's heat + bike’s own heat = a toasty biker. On the other hand, if you are into shedding a few pounds from the summer BBQs and cold drinks, go ahead because is a heck of a moving sauna...
